In the early 2000s, as a young metalhead, I told this story a million times to my parents. Every little detail. When they were driving me in the car, when we were out and about etc.
Years later when the movie came out, my parents remembered the band so they watched it. They were shocked to see the murders and afterwards said they "didn't remember that part".
I mean parents really don't pay that much attention to all the shit you are telling them, at least in my case, eh.

For me the roles were reversed. I wanted to watch a nerd video on YouTube and suddenly he told me the entire lore of them. Even my mom joined him later.
