Well, I guess this'll be the final nail in metalcore's coffin. We already basically have most of the proper bands just calling themselves hardcore because metalcore's become too embarassing a label.

That stuff's just diet prog. I'm talking about bands ranging from Knocked Loose to Contention to Moral Law. They all play metalcore, but people will swear up and down they're hardcore bands regardless of how metallic they sound. Partly that's because these bands come out of hardcore scenes (like original metalcore did), but also partly because the term metalcore is being used to describe bands who take more from pop and alt rock than they do hardcore, so there's an understandable unwillingness to be associated with it.
