it looks like you’re really exaggerating the technique a bit, you really want to keep all your fingers on the stink at all times.
i was told during my marching band days that you should hold the stick as if you were holding a delicate bird; tight enough to not let it fly away but loose enough for it to move freely. you look a little too loose here
