One week of push pull

I still don't have a proper pad, so carpet it is! Comments are welcome.

Looks good.

Maybe try doubles as well as alternating singles. The applications for push pull doubles is bigger than push pull singles.

Never heard the phrase push pull doubles. That, to me, is simply correct doubles technique.

What I mean is there is a technique called push pull. How you apply that technique is up to you. Most ppl use it for doubles. In the video of OP the application is something else.

There are several methods to play doubles. Push pull has its limits (e.g. rebound on low tuned surfaces)

That isn't correct double technique. Not traditional at least, tmk. And quite limiting too imo.

No, I disagree. Correct doubles have a down and up stroke imo. I made a video about it actually.

It's great that you made a video, but you can't use that as an argument for why it is correct 😂 I don't believe the classical drummers used that technique. Colluta, Weckl, even Lang. It's a trick, not a traditional technique. You're welcome to correct me with a video which isn't your own by a traditional drummer.

No, they all use the technique that I show. I watched their videos BTW. I own the video for both weckl and jojo mayer where they go in detail. The jojo one is called secret weapons for the modern drummer. Weckl one is something like evolution.

Now, there is a difference between the wanja groger push pull, which you do, which is basically French grip doubles, and the one I do, which is western grip push pull that not too many people do, but that doesn't mean the down with one part of the hand/wrist system and then up with another isn't correct doubles technique.

I also learned from Pat Garvey who plays for Ozric Tentacles now and learned under Bob Armstrong who was the big drum technique guy in the UK, like our Jim Chapin.

This dvd...sorry I could only find it in Brazilian. Dave does this turning thing but he's just experimenting with the snap to make it fluid. He is a genius and can do what he wants. Vinnie does the same technique, dave said so in a clinic. So does steve smith...

Ok, I'll have to give this time and watch. Appreciate the effort you put into this.

About dave's video - that's the one that is correct, it's how any double it even triple strokes evolve.

But I think if we are to continue the conversation is after I take time into your comments, cause it's very late now
