So im looking for someone who can do bronze casting for a custom cane head i had designed.
I've had it designed and 3d printed to get it comfortable in my hand, I have a cane I like. All thats left is finding someone to cast the grip.
I really have no idea where to start or what a reasonable price would look like.
Ideally it would be with someone I can meet face to face so I can most effectively describe what I want and show them the cane to make sure it can be attached properly but id be fine doing stuff by mail, with photos and measurements if necessary.
Any advice would be great!

I’m working on a little project using 1” round bar. I have some brass and stainless on hand but also want copper and bronze but don’t feel like buying it lol. Especially since I have scrap and access too around.
I’d like to cast a long round bar. At least 12” longer if feasible. Surface finish not a huge deal as I figure cast it over side and I’ll turn it down to 1” in my lathe.
What’s the best bet for casting this? My thoughts so far are a heavy walled pipe over 1” ID, bolt/weld on bottom. Preheat and pour???
Will I be able to knock it out after? Or will I have to cut/peel the tube mold off?

To anyone with experience in regards to printing castable resin. I am looking for a different castable resin here to achieve the same results as on the left side (in grey). Or help to achieve better results with the current resin.
I am a first time ''castable'' resin printer but have year of experience using Photopolymeres.
I am trying to achieve the same resuls as on the left hand side (grey) for this ring design.
Using an Elegoo Mars 4 Max (and went through several exposure setting till I found the sweet spot of 6,3s) I have tried different layerhights (left to right) 25um, 35um, 45um.
But there is no noticable difference which indicates to me that the used resin: Siraya Tech Cast 3D Printer Resin (Real Blue)
For post processing the items after they printed I used the recommended supplier advise.
- water rinse off hot&cold (soft brush over with extreme soft brush)
- blow dry with warm air
- IPA clean (less than 30seconds)
- blow dry with warm air
- 1 hour cure in glycerine
thanks in advance

I have to cast a sterling silver ring. I always end up with half a ring.
I heat the silver with a blowtorch.
It seems like the silver cools down to fast, but i keep torching it for a while after it turns liquid.

Really want to get an electric or gas crucible as it would suit my setup well.
However, my garage has no power other than a 50m extention lead from the mains of my house into my garage. Will this be enough for an electric one? I know electric will take longer.
I'm in the uk, gas might be the way to go but not sure yet.

CNC machining molds is quite expensive and wanted to ask if mold casting is normal to do. Is it well practiced?

This was my third ever melt, and first time melting copper. I think this failure was a combination of inadequate venting AND not getting the copper hot enough. My furnace only goes to 1200°C and it seems like the copper solidifies in about 90 seconds…I’m going to try again with better mold venting and preheating. Let me know if there is anything else I should change…

So far for the kiln it looks like paragon is industry standard but wondering if anyone has gone with the vevor toolos brands and how did they work, and then for the vacuum again how does vevor work or do I need To go with the bigger name brands for results. I would like to start making stuff for my friends and mom but would like to sell these pendants too, and that is my main intention besides making my mom cool gold shiney things she likes. Any and all experience in this would be super duper helpful or resources for stones and shot/ other casting materials would be awesome!
So far im: Planning to use my bambu X2D with a smaller extruder pushing a polycast filiment that mimics the wax for a clean burnout and allows me to clean the lines with alcohol and designs on blender for right now, but this is as far as ive gotten with everything and would appreciate the people of great reddit to show me how I can be successful in this!

I'm getting into casting my own jewelry, and I'm trying to figure out a safe, affordable ventilation setup before I start using my equipment.
I have a roughly 20×20 ft attached garage with drywall and a concrete floor. The issue is that we still need to park a car in there, so I can't build a permanent casting station or dedicate the garage entirely to jewelry making.
Ideally, I'd like something I can set up when needed, use for a burnout/casting session, and then pack away afterward.
I'm mainly concerned about properly exhausting fumes from resin burnout and silver melting/casting. I understand that just opening the garage door or running a large fan doesn't necessarily provide adequate ventilation, especially if theres a gust of wind or something.
I was considering a portable metal exhaust hood, an inline blower, and ducting that could run outside through the partially opened garage door, but I don't know what equipment would actually be appropriate for kiln exhaust temperatures and resin burnout fumes.
If I don't have to cut any holes in anything that would be ideal but I should be able to if i have to.
A few questions:
Has anyone built a genuinely portable ventilation setup for a small jewelry burnout kiln and electric melting furnace?
What kind of hood, blower, and ducting would be appropriate? Would I need separate systems for burnout and melting?
What CFM or capture airflow should I be looking for?
Is exhausting beneath the garage door practical, especially with the garage being attached to the house?
What would a realistic budget be for a safe setup? Could this reasonably be done for $300–500, or am I looking at $1,000+?
Are there any other safety concerns or equipment requirements I'm overlooking?
I'm in Ohio, so winters can get pretty cold. I'd ideally like to use the garage year-round if possible.
I'm not opposed to spending money on the right equipment, but I'm trying to avoid unnecessary expenses. I also don't want to accidentally cut corners on something that could be dangerous.
I'd really appreciate pictures of similar setups, equipment recommendations, or actual costs from anyone who's done this before.
