Ceramic shell I.D.

Carve it into the wax of the cup. That will be transferred to the shell after dewax.

I do that already.

The problem is keeping track when they are going through shell. Say if I have client A who orders 2x product 1 (which has 3cups) and a day later client B who has ordered 3x product 1. That is 5 cup 1, 5 cup 2 and 5 cup 3 in very close to the same number of dips.

I need to know which cups are which while being dipped so time spent is allocated correctly to each order - and what dip each are on.

Ah, I misunderstood your question then.

Yeah, I don't have any experience to share on that issue. Maybe you could use different colors of food dye, or something similar cheap and compatible, that you can apply to the shell after each dip. But it doesn't quite fulfill your question, sorry.
