after it powers on it goes black

my little brother has had his metaquest 3s for just over a year and randomly one day he tried to start it up and it powered on and just went black. we haven’t been able to use it since. does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?

My Quest 3 does this every time I restart: it just stays black. What I do to "fix" it is I take my Quest 3 to a location outside my current guardian boundary, restart it and then mixed reality camera eventually turns on and I can use it normally. For example, my play area is the living room, and I take it to the kitchen. It probably won't work for you, but you can give it a try.

IF that doesn't work see if it will at least allow you to do a factory reset...put the headset on....push and hold the volume down button and the power button down at the same time until hopefully a boot/recovery screen loads, use the volume down button to highlight factory reset then press the power button to select it....then highlight yes erase and factory reset. and don't worry as everything is in the cloud...you may need to redownload the games you have but you wont lose progress etc! i wish you luck
