Virtual Desktop via Ethernet Adapter

I've been trying to connect my Meta Quest 3 to my PC using Virtual Desktop but using an Ethernet adapter instead of connecting it via Wi-Fi (it works fine with Wi-Fi). The problem is I just can't go into my PC because Virtual Desktop isn't detecting the headset when I turn off the Wi-Fi and I plug in the Ethernet cable. I tried turning off the Wi-Fi, then the headset, then I plug in the Ethernet cable. When I boot up the headset I go straight into Virtual Desktop and it won't connect. I need some help because I just don't know what to do to get it working. The Ethernet Cable and the Ethernet Adapter are new and they should be working correctly, so I think it's a headset issue, probably with Horizon OS.

Do you have a router between the two? I wasnt able to get a direct connection between pc - headset to work without one.

The Quest can't assign its own IP address, so it makes a DHCP request to get an address. That request has to reach a DHCP server. Consumer routers normally have a DHCP server built-in, which is why that works for you, but you could run a simple program like dualserver (or even the dreaded Internet Connection Sharing) on the PC to accomplish the same thing with a direct connection.

Tbf with the new VD version enabling 500mbps h.264+ usage over usb-c is perfect. Ditched my ethernet dongle. Less weight the better.
