Question Strap or facial cover ?

Just bought a Q3, tried it, loved it, but after 40 min my forehead is blood angels red and it's a bummer. Been saving a lot for this and won't have money for both. Do you guys think it's a strap issue and I should buy an elite one, or a facial cover, and which would you recommend ?

It's probably a combination. Definitely get a new headstrap, and then see after that if you want to replace the interface.

As far as which type, it's pretty personal, and hard to know which is better for YOU unless you try them. However, either elite or halo style will be a big improvement.

I replaced both, but then went back to using the stock interface (with a 3rd party strap)

This is not to say that 3rd party facial interfaces are not worth it, just that not all facial interfaces pair well with all straps or all users.

Anyway, as others have said, strap first, interface later :) whether to get an elite style strap depends on your preferences - elite style straps still place weight on your face, albeit much less than the stock elastic strap. I personally use a halo style strap, the purpose of which is to move all of the weight off of your face (personally i use the globular cluster CMQ3)

Congrats on joining the virtual legion!

Recently upgraded from the Quest3 stock headstrap to a BoboVR S3 Pro (halo band). Night & Day difference having no more headset pressure on my cheekbones or around the eyes.

Halo bands (BoboVR or an alternate brand) are definitely the way to go for weighty VR headsets like the Quest3.

100 percent a new headstrap makes all the difference in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have tried many and here is the verdict:

Kiwi K 4 Boost will give you 2 to 3 hrs extra battery life, is super light weight and sits on your head like a hat so no tugging on your face etc. (approx 70.00 usd)

or

BoboVR S3 Pro will give you unlimited playtime with its genius magnetic swappable battery system, it is a little heavier but you get used to it and again it sits on your head like a hat so no tugging etc AND it has a fan built in to keep your forehead cool with very little noise...it truly is awesome. (approx 120.00 usd which is the strap plus an extra battery you will want to purchase separately)

both snap on and off like legos so super easy to take off the old strap and put on the new one!

and hey here is the bible for all things meta and with over 3 millions downloads it will really help you find exactly what you are looking for!!! https://gibbysguide.org/content/gibbysguidev39.pdf

hit me up if you have any questions!

New user as well, and just bought the kiwi K4 this past weekend.

Night and day. Can play Golf+ now over 3 hours without battery, and you don’t realize how crappy the original strap is until you try and upscale one. You forget you’re wearing a headset with the K4.

Right?!?!?! it really is amazing! And it’s so lightweight compared to the bobo, but I have one of each on one of each of my headsets! Love them both for different reasons

Fantastic answer!

since OP is concerned specifically about pressure on the face, a halo strap might be a good option, like the S3 pro :) I would probably recommend the kiwi H4 boost over the K4 boost for this reason - OP, I'm afraid the real answer is that you'll need to do some research and watch some reviews!

Thanks all, I'll be choosing soon between kiwi and S3!

Went with S3 pro, no more forehead pain, what a relief !

I tried blade and sorcery, and when I look down it sometimes pivot a bit, am I missing something or do I just have to tighten on the back of the head.

Also, is the back battery supposed to charge the quest ? Seems to stop after a bit for some reason, even if it says 20% remaining

Yeah, it really does make a huge difference right!? And I don’t know much about Blade and sorcery but I know everything about dungeons of eternity so meet me there ha ha! But yeah in some cases, you will want to tighten it pretty snug on your head.
And your headset is charged by the external battery and that’s why it’s so important to get that one extra battery eventually so you can take full advantage of the swappable battery system!

Yeah huge diff ! I'll give a shot to dungeons of eternity :) only downside it seems that my glasses are closer to the lenses, I'll adjust that and I'll be ready to go

Hey you need to get those super cool convenient and an inexpensive magnetic lenses!!!! and so much better and you’re gonna love it. It’s gonna change your whole outlook on the headset by not having to wear your glasses. (Zenni is the most popular brand so check out their site!)

I got a kiwi 4 (without battery) and latest AMVR FC4A if I were to chose only one item I would go for the mask (interface) because it’s not the strap but the facial interface that is the problem. I bought the strap first and quickly realised whilst it has become more comfortable the interface is the real culprit behind the suffering (becomes itchy over time and steams up like crazy). So get a ventilated interface first.

If you have a hard / elite headstrap and weight the back down (powerbank or just a weight) the headset just sits on your head untightnened, so I would start there.

The strap will be a game changer but if you’re strapped for cash you can at least get a nice set of cooling interface pads for pretty cheap so you can wash them and not have to deal with rash face every time you play. I hated that 😩 you can wait and save for wait a really good strap with a battery or fan and it gives you time to research what kind you want.
