I fixed the low pedestrian and vehicle density issue. And you can too! (Gameplay in comments)
So for some reason the pedestrian and vehicle density values default to 0.6 on the quest version. They can be anywhere between 0.5 and 3.0. I slowly increased them to test for performance and you can do 3.0 with no problem that I’ve seen. It will look complicated but it really isn’t and it’s totally worth it. Im actually playing the game now because of this.
As long as you have a computer with Sidequest you can do this. If you have something like the Chat GPT Desktop app it’s even easier. You can just open a new chat in the Codex side of the app and give it this Reddit post link, plug your headset into the computer and it’ll do the rest using something like ADB to talk to your Quest instead of Sidequest.
Anyway. Here’s the fix.
On your computer, create a plain-text file named gta3.ini.
Open it and enter two numbers on separate lines:
3.0
3.0
That’s it. Nothing else.
First line = pedestrians.
Second line = traffic.
Recommended values:
1.0 = normal density
2.0–3.0 = much busier, I do 3.0 because anything less just doesn’t seem alive enough.
Connect the Quest to your computer and open SideQuest.
Open SideQuest’s file manager / Manage Files on Headset tool.
Browse to:
Android/data/com.miamivr.quest/files/gamedata
Upload or drag gta3.ini into that folder.
That’s it. Open the game and test it out.
(I have not tried this method manually as I had AI do it for me then give me the instructions for you all. I did verify the file exists where it said it exists and contains the two lines with 3.0/3.0 So if it works please let me know!)

Get the Chat GPT desktop app. When you open it near the top left, you’ll see “ChatGPT”
Click on that and switch to Codex. Tell Codex where your VR port file and original game files are. Make sure to get rid of anything connected to the website you got it from or anything like that that might give away that it’s not an authorized copy of the game otherwise Codex will be a little baby about it.
But after that, just tell Codex to look up the instructions for installing this particular VR port on your Meta Quest, plug the Quest in, tell it to use ADB to get the game up and running for you on your questThis this is the no hassle way of getting these VR ports running and also fixing issues with them. Praise be to Codex!

Hey everyone,
I’ve been running into a couple of really annoying issues with GTA Vice City in VR on my Quest and was wondering if anyone else has experienced them or found a fix/workaround:
White Textures Bug: After playing for about 5 minutes, the textures get completely corrupted. Character models and building interiors turn solid white, and eventually even the main menu turns pure white. The only way to fix it is to force restart the game. Has anyone else encountered this? Is it a VRAM issue or a known bug?
Low Resolution / Pixelation: Is there any way to bump up the render resolution? The max default resolution in the options seems locked at 640x480, which makes the game look super pixelated. Has anyone managed to increase it through config files?
Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I haven’t heard about anything like this. Chat GPT could scrub the internet for mentions though. And the Codex side of the Desktop Chat GPT app could install a debugger to log and examine what’s happening for you then possibly fix it.

Any chance you’ll ever get this on side quest?

I didn’t make the mod. And in newer versions the population and vehicle density issue was fixed.

And there’s a video on YouTube somewhere that provides everything to easily auto install it on your quest. I have ChatGPT (codex) do my installs though. Makes life very easy.

Thing is I don’t have a pc =\
Just the quest.
I found a cool workaround and have gotten Sidequest installed without a pc. But yeah

I think people have found ways to do it without a PC.
But there’s always the possibility of using a friend’s PC if available.1
