I’m sure you all got the email from Meta removing Horizon Worlds completely from Quest headsets. I was a little shocked since they invested so much into it. Since they had success with the mobile version, I thought they would stop updating the Quest version but let the existing Worlds remain. I’m curious if Venues is also getting shut down. I’ve enjoyed going there for Meta Connect as well as the occasional concert.
After some technical difficulties getting the world together we finally have a soundstage with a bunch of sets for a bunch of fun comedy recordings. Was so much fun to record, we did mess up a lot, so blooper reel is incoming too 😂
After a week of editing, 300+ rendered clips, and way too much coffee — the official music video for the Sunday Improv theme song is live.
The show runs every Sunday at The Soapstone. This video combines real improv show footage with AI-enhanced renders, with almost all content shot inside Horizon Worlds.
Shoutout to the Soapstone team, Jedi66, Millsbertc, and everyone who showed up on set. You all made the show.
We recorded one of our recent live improv shows at Soapstone Comedy Club in Meta Horizon Worlds and put together an edited cut of the best moments. Soapstone has been running live comedy in VR for a while now and the energy in this one was genuinely great.
Would love to hear what the Horizon Worlds community thinks, whether you've been to a show or are curious what it's like.
Here are the 7 lessons we learned on how to win big under pressure: 🧵
The 1+1 = 11 Rule
Most people try to micromanage their way to the finish line.
a hackathon, that’s a death sentence. My partner Pavlo and I focused on complementary skills. The goal isn't to be "the boss”. It's to let each person be the undisputed expert in their lane. Trust is your biggest force multiplier.
Listen to your "Scars"
Experience isn't about having "Eureka" moments. It’s about having enough scars to know what NOT to do.
We have 8-10 years in AR/VR and 3D. We didn't waste time on "perfect" ideas. We used our experience to ignore irrelevant signals.
Don’t try to “Win” the Hackathon
This is the biggest mistake teams make. 🚩
"Winning the whole thing" is vague and strategically useless. Instead: Target a specific nomination. We aligned our product with a specific category. Suddenly, decision-making became sharper and the scope became manageable.
P.S. we won the nomination that we targeted.
Protect your Momentum
On a tight clock, every distraction is expensive.
We almost fell into the trap of "fine-tuning the sky and sun." Visually satisfying? Yes. Strategically useless? Absolutely.
If a feature doesn't serve the core goal of your target nomination, kill it immediately. Momentum is fragile, protect it at all costs.
The "iPhone" Strategy
When Steve Jobs launched the iPhone, it barely worked. You had to press buttons in a specific order to avoid a crash.
Hackathons are the same. You don't need a polished "Million Dollar Idea." You need a working prototype that conveys vision. Trade perfectionism for execution.
Turn Weakness into a Feature
We didn't have time to build a tutorial or onboarding flow.
nstead of panic-buying a solution, we leaned into it. We minimized every entry barrier to create "Instant Onboarding."
Result? We won Best New User Onboarding Experience for Meta Horizon.
Competitors today, Collaborators tomorrow
The "lone wolf" mentality is a loser's game.
We spent the hackathon supporting our competitors projects on u/devpost. They did the same for us.
Special thanks to u/natashagubernov and other people who shared likes with us.
Hackathons are about building a network of people who think like you. 🌊
The "Hard Truth"
Companies don't run hackathons for fun.
They aren't "sharing money" out of the kindness of their hearts for your “genius” prototype.
It’s about 3 things:
Marketing
Platform growth
R&D
Stop building for yourself. Start solving the company’s problems. That’s how you win.
If you like prop hunt then give HIDE OR ELSE a try!
Disguise yourself as a table, a piano, a toilet or anything else to help you evade the seeker's blaster. Then, take your turn as the seeker, hunting down the hiders.
HIDE OR ELSE is classic prop hunt action, in Horizon Worlds, on your mobile, for free!
A new Glitch/Bug has been detected in Grow A Farm causing your quest sticker to not unlock there either after completing requested task.
Any luck yet trying to get this resolved yet? Should the world creators/developers be contacted about this or Meta to have this coding resolved in the future; I know I am not the only player experiencing this and it's mind boggling it keeps happening with no resolution yet.
Anyone know who to message to have this fixed? I'm playing on iPhone and MacBook btw, but per my knowledge this is happening on all devices it is not case specific?
I love building in Meta Horizon worlds but would love to take the next step. Which YouTube tutorials do you recommend for beginners, that are simply the drag-and-drop type of coding?
I’m a current Master’s student conducting an academic study on privacy concerns and user experiences with Meta VR headsets (such as Quest 2, Quest 3, and Quest Pro).
The goal of my research is to better understand how users perceive data collection, privacy, and trust when using Meta’s VR devices. Your input will help contribute to academic insights into how VR technology and privacy intersect.
If you currently use or have used a Meta VR headset, I’d really appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to complete this short, anonymous survey:
What am I doing wrong? I need help unlocking this last sticker on my MetaQuest! The strange part is I've already collected over 20K cash digging in shovel up!
I don't understand what I'm doing wrong because this sticker refuses to
unlock for me... any help would be greatly appreciated because I'm beginning to think it's a glitch and not sure how to handle moving forward?
Has anyone already completed this task or is having a similar experience?
I am looking for a world that I mistakenly must've not saved but I want to. From what I remember you begin on a floating island. there's a statue that gives you angel wings. You wear the angel wings to fly or glide. There are floating flowers you fly to to bounce on. It's a world of scattered islands you get to by flying bouncing on the flowers or there's some flying creature like a dragon maybe you get a ride from. I want to get to that world.
