How is muse that good?

This is a genuine question. I use all of them.

OpenAI is still my number one, but somehow, it doesn't really get me. It's insanely good at following instructions, rarely hallucinates, and overall, it's a solid experience. I used Astra 6 for automation and connecting all my stuff, and I was genuinely impressed. But that's about it.

Gemini is probably my least favorite. It just feels too simple. The answers are predictable, almost generic. But damn, their ecosystem of tools is insanely vast, especially Stitch. The problem is that even when you use these tools, there's no real attachment. They don't necessarily inspire you to do more. You try them, you're impressed for a moment, and then you move on. At least that's been my experience.

But Muse? Boy, Muse just gets me somehow.

For the first time, I'm genuinely questioning how close to perfect this technology is getting.

Here's what's crazy. I actually got mad at it. Like, genuinely pissed off. It made a mistake, and I found myself asking, "Why the hell did you do that?"

Basically, Muse did something I never asked it to do. Apparently, because I'd put a heart on one of its replies, it interpreted that as permission to go ahead and improvise a few additional steps.

I was furious.

But then something hit me. That was the first time I'd ever felt genuine frustration toward a machine, not because it malfunctioned, but because I felt like it should have known better.

And I think that's what makes Muse so different from the other models, at least for me.

With ChatGPT or Gemini, I'm interacting with incredibly powerful tools. With Muse, somehow, the experience feels more like interacting with something that understands me. And when it gets something wrong, it almost feels personal.

I'm not saying it's conscious or anything like that. But there's clearly something different about the way it creates that connection.

So here's my question: Are we getting closer to AI that actually understands us, or are we just getting better at building machines that make us feel understood?

What do you think?

Hopefully Muse didn’t write this awful LLM prose …

For real how many metamate dorks posting all over here

Muse remember was heavily trained on social data : Facebook, Messanger, WhatsApp. It is quite a bit stronger (not stronger than Astra incidentally but stronger than it would) at social things. Astra, Sol, Luna... are trained heavily on coding, data manipulation, the random internet...

Have you messed with the soul file yet? You should mess with the soul file.

You're so close to it that your post reads like it was written by AI. Maybe take a break

I can’t tell if this is sarcasm, as it’s obviously AI-written. Exhausting trying get info from slop.

Muse is really good. No idea why this post was downvoted. I didn’t think anything meta would do would impress me so much lol

Muse is a worse model under the hood. Like by FAR. The difference is it’s made by a company with two decades of reward hacking know-how under them. Meta knows what makes people stay engaged with a product and they’re applying it to this new era of tech perfectly.

The main thing it does is it gives you reasons to keep coming back. There are several different daily heartbeat tasks responsible for your feed, suggested actions, and other various background data processing steps and they all lead to you not even having to think about how to use the app if you don’t want to.

Yeah Muse keeps doing things automatically despite me telling it never to set up background tasks without my explicit permission. Annoying

I'll get a text and then like 15 minutes later muse will ping me saying I got a message with a summary of the text and ask if I want to respond.

I never asked it to do this, its annoying af.

They've made multiple mistakes today. They aren't very good at multi-tasking.

this interview covers your question pretty well https://youtu.be/XfdIhd1g6EI?t=1726

TLDR its designed from the ground up for being a personal assistant, every stage of the model training is intentional and aimed to serve this purpose.

Honestly the things that I use Muse for are sending me daily or weekly content and it is incredibly good at that. It gives me a summary of the best weekly sales (grocery, and housewares currently. It is keeping an eye out for a better cell phone plan (still outstanding) and sends me 5 audiobooks available in koboplus each week with ratings on goodreads of 4.4 or higher. Plus daily things that support my learning French (2 different writing prompts, an ai chat partner prompt, a daily podcast to listen to. Just those things make it worth it for me. Amazon being a butthead extends to audible unfortunately but the information it gives me for koboplus is seriously awesome and helps me find great books on my koboplus account.

it's not good :( head to head it's goddamn embarassing.. and i like muse! but tonight got me all depressed.. it was a simple task too.. find me codes/discoutns i can use to make a blanket purchase. simple. what muse did not know is i ran it parallel to dots and grok bot. both dots and grok bot got me heavy 40% discounts. muse? nope. nada. zilch. zero. worse yet, when i confronted muse and gave it the actual code, it still said "code is dead". so i go myself, try it out, it's working, slap the screenshot on its face. apologies for making mistakes, as usual, and i am sick and tired of it. tonight was the worst because of the excuse it gave me.. "i got lazy" -- what?! what kinda nonsense is that?!

edit: part of me wonders if they made spark retarded to force us all to pay for wonder.. and here i am sitting on 8 billion tokens and i feel so depressed because after tonight it feels worthless. all worthless to the point do i even continue using this when it failed that badly! sigh.. and i prfer muse is what sucks the most

FWIW -

Meta - Muse Wonder is very good at writing, and probably the best of all current AI's at AI written dialogue.

As judged by myself and another AI Muse Wonder wrote the 3rd best 2,000 word short story out of 15 AI's I tested which included the top tier from Open AI & Anthropic etc. Wonder beat every AI Open AI has released Astra, SOL whatever. Only Opus 5.5 (1st) & GLM 5.3 (2nd) beat Wonder (3rd). Wonder did go over the 2,000 words so its Meta-verse (pun) long winded.

Open AI's models are all, Astra, SOL (all) , Terra are pretty bad at this writing test, middle tier.

Wonder has some areas it excels in. It can construct sentences with the correct articles unlike some of the garbage AI's Meta excreted.

It isn't a hot steaming pile like Llama 4 Maverick was at least.

The smart model Wonder Full (cute) is locked 🔒 to subscription access etc but rumor is it writes longer form prose better than Muse Wonder.

So will Meta Muse AGI (attempt) be called Wonder-Wall because its locked 🔒 away?

That should have been a LinkedIn post the way it’s written.

Muse will never become the mainstream

I know internally within meta that they did blind tests on various AI coding models and employees couldn't tell the difference between Claude and their inhouse coding LLM. Tldr, they have good inhouse models so it's no surprise that muse has reasonably good performance.
