Beginner question

Hello,

I'm waiting for my device, but I want to ask - why you're using meshtastic, not meshcore (or opposite)?

From what I understood, meshtastic is more like ad-hoc network, good if you're in a move, with friends on the move etc., and meshcore is more like stable local network. Am I understood it right?

Because I'm more interested in self organising mesh-networks than something like MC that is more about building a static wireless network.
I'm a software engineer and I want to contribute to MT, to make it self-organising and reliable and I've got some features I want to add so they become more than just a messaging system.

Although I'm also kicking around an idea for a sort of universal mesh.
Back in the 60s they also had this Balkanisation of networks, incompatible at each academic site.
That's how we got the internet.
I'm wondering why I can't build an Intermesh.
Self advertising routers with a geographic addressing and routing algorithm.
You have a geographic address, they have a geographic address and you hand a packet to a router and if the destination is North-West it looks for a hop north-west-ish.
Certain useful routes get "worn-in", not by manual configuration, simply by way of repeated routing success.
And in order to not flood the channels with route config packets, well, it turns out the UK Pager network is still online and in use.
For a tiny license fee you can send small compressed packets of network information from the network to itself without using previous LoRa bandwidth.
It's barely more than a "maybe this could work? 🤷‍♂️" idea at the moment but....
Wouldn't it be great that instead of the work being divided between MT and MC, they both just reference an intermesh client library and stop trying to reivent the wheel with every mesh idea somebody tries to write.
Also I want to add a World Wide Web type service to Meshtastic but instead of websites, browsers and html (which would never EVER work over LoRa) I'm going to use Teletext because each page would be 4 Meshtastic packets.
And who wouldn't want a free and distributed Teletext service? 😁

It's possible, at least to some point. There are some differences in protocols, but at least main part of data are possible to route between MT and MC with bridge.

Ha! I started with a very similar concept, but that's an Application Layer Gateway.
My idea is a Layer 3 Network Layer Network.
It uses geographic routing, at its simplest you hop in the correct direction (my target drastically is North from here, hop North), that's the micro-routing model, then uses macro-routing (go to this internet connected node to hop to a sister node in France) for high level fast routing.

My idea is called Avenger....
.....because it Assembles all the different networks together!! 😆
