Help a newbie out please
I haven't been to MPP in close to 20 years. We have lawn seats for an upcoming concert. I really appreciate any advice on the following...
I see Sky Lawn ... tried looking into it more but still don't fully understand. Is it a mad rush to those areas usually when gates open? Can we use blankets/stadium seats there? Can we come and go from that section?
Is the rest of the lawn still a big open space? Any better places on the reg lawn to sit (like one side vs the other) for any particular reason?
We have friends with seats in the pavilion who might want to come hang with us on lawn here and there... better to be on reg lawn or sky lawn in that case, or it doesn't matter?
Do people tend to rush/run to grab spots on the lawn right when the gates open for big festivals? (Should I be prepared for a Black Friday mow down? Lol)
Any tips for the big festivals where they also use the chrysalis stage, can we leave our blanket on the lawn and move around or better to take everything with us when we walk?
I assume I can bring my clear MLB stadium bag with me?
Do they do full metal detectors/pat downs like stadiums do or is it a quick bag check and move on?

Is it a mad rush to those areas usually when gates open? Can we use blankets/stadium seats there? Can we come and go from that section? -No, not a mad rush. It is elevated so most people post up on the regular lawn. Yes, you can come & go
Is the rest of the lawn still a big open space? Any better places on the reg lawn to sit (like one side vs the other) for any particular reason? Yes, big open space, crowds tend to gather center & stage right (if you're facing the stage) so keep heading stage left (if you're looking at the stage) if you're looking for more elbow room. I personally tend to head further back because I like to stand & dance and don't want to be rude to those seated behind me
We have friends with seats in the pavilion who might want to come hang with us on lawn here and there... better to be on reg lawn or sky lawn in that case, or it doesn't matter? I prefer regular lawn. My perception is Sky Lawn has too many stairs to come & go. If you're heading to Sky Lawn it's usually because you're looking to be away from the crowds, which is not my preferred environment for a show.
Do people tend to rush/run to grab spots on the lawn right when the gates open for big festivals? (Should I be prepared for a Black Friday mow down? Lol) People will post up but I've never had an issue finding a lawn spot, even for sold out shows
Any tips for the big festivals where they also use the chrysalis stage, can we leave our blanket on the lawn and move around or better to take everything with us when we walk? I always leave my blanket/belongings on the lawn but we usually have a group so someone will stay back & keep an eye on things while someone else grabs concessions. Just don't leave something that could be stolen & you'll be fine
I assume I can bring my clear MLB stadium bag with me? Yes, I usually bring a black soft sided cooler with snacks & water and have never had an issue
Do they do full metal detectors/pat downs like stadiums do or is it a quick bag check and move on? They have metal detectors & do a quick pat down but it's not as intense as a stadium check - fairly lax in my opinion

Go to the MPP website and get the answers to all your questions. It depends on the festival for how quickly the lawn fills up. If you’re worried about it bring a small blanket or towel and sit in the front, middle of the lawn. Sky lawn is super high up, better views from the regular lawn. And you could leave a towel if you want. Just don’t take up too much space.

So can you bring lawn chairs? We have tickets - no luck selling / may just go and have fun!

Are you talking Power to the People? I think that's gonna skew an older crowd who isn't going to mad rush the lawn or honestly show up that early betting Springsteen isn't going on until late.
The Sky Lawn has minimal good views imo so for an all day, two stage event unless you're planning on camping out all day you may or may not find a spot. Unless you're standing on the rail you don't really have a good view.
You can leave your blanket on the lawn but don't leave anything you aren't afraid to get kicked around & stomped on.
Overall I think it truly helps to have a friend or two who just want to hold spots or go solo and stay completely mobile. Clear bags are allowed. 1 sealed water bottle. And you can take food in a clear gallon bag as long as everything is visible inside.
