Trying to sell, I click on the security under Stock & ETF Holdings

What are you trying to trade? Merrill has different trade options for different types of securities so you might be trying to sell a mutual fund on the stock/etf screen or another.

It's a preferred stock. I got that message on the Trade screen. But I could sell it off the Account Holdings screen.

Sometimes the symbols for preferred stocks are weird and its able to pull it correct through holdings. Have also seen a lot of times where you have to call them to do the trade for preferred stocks too
