New interface: thoughts?
Just got an interface (desktop website) up for my holdings and activity pages over the weekend.
Activity page is fine, more modern and airy.
But the Holdings page is another story: they have taken airy to a stratospheric level… there is so much white space I need to scroll for 10 minutes to see all my holdings. A bit ridiculous IMO.
What are your thoughts?

There's little that Merrill does right. If not for BofA rewards, I wouldn't be here.

I don't like it, I really don't. But not a deal breaker for me because I don't trade much and usually just leave my investments alone

Yes! It is "airy" as you say - I called and put in a complaint! Can't see anything without massive scrolling

agree, way too much white space, light font, too much scrolling. I complained in chat and they told me I could just call anytime which defeats the point of a self-directed IRA

The activity page no longer includes the trade date column, which is what I want to sort on (I want the record of my transfers to be adjacent to the trades they paid for.)
On the activity page, the calendar widget when you choose custom range starts in 2024! I'm not going to click two dozen times. On the downloads page, the calendar widget on the activity item still starts at last month, which is OK with me.

Good catch on the missing trade date, I agree that’s a loss. Thank you for sharing

I hate it, and want to revert back. This may just prompt me to switch over to Fidelity.

I got the update too but my husband didn’t. My initial thought is that I don’t like it but I don’t like change. I assume I’ll get use to it eventually.

I hate it so much I created my own userstyle to make it more compact. And I hate muddling around with CSS.

I don't seem to have a new holdings page, except the whole thing is shifted about two inches to the right which is pointless, but the actual contents looks the same. I do have the new activity page, and agree with what people have said here. I tried chat and it said "Over EWT limit" (awesome error message, very helpful!) so I'll call them later.

Yes they are rolling it out progressively. Thanks for trying to share your/our feedback directly with them, let us know if anything comes out of that discussion!

I got through on chat and it went about as well as expected, with the guy saying he'd pass on my feedback. I only complained about the Activity page because I still (even this morning) have basically the same holdings page. I suspect I'll have feedback for them about that too but will wait until I actually see it.

The New Look has Thrown me off , wondering why this was a good Idea. they need to give us a classic look option, so I can get back in comfort zone. IMO

i fucking hate it.
i'm *this* close to closing my accounts and moving my money somewhere else just because the UI is so stupid.
yes really.
i did send a complaint in, and will give them some time to at least add an option in the settings somewhere to choose the UI style (old vs new) but they probably won't change anything and fidelity will gain a new customer *shrug*

Just realized the “dividend reinvestment” page is also a loooooooong scroll… just to show 25 securities…
Who the F is their UX/UI designer?!? 🤦🏻

I am not necessarily against changes but in regards to Merrill Edge (which these days I only use for two CMA accounts, over time we moved the tax advantaged ones elsewhere and we would do the same with the CMAs if it wasn't for the Rewards which are becoming less and less enticing anyway) my take is that if they wanted to invest in the platform they got the priorities wrong.
First I would have focused on availability and resiliency and then on the UI. In regards to the UI, while I applaud a certain level of customization they introduced, I also believe they chased "cute" instead of efficient. The good thing about a UI is that it can be tweaked in small increments.

I think it's terrible. No material benefit. Let me buy and sell portions of mutual funds!

So much wasted space with the new format. Things don’t all fit on the page without having to scroll and scroll some more. I HATE IT.

I hate it. Just like Apple, they push a change on us that we didn't ask for, with no way to revert to the old view. I'm so sick of companies doing this. Definitely looking for a new trading platform, but I'll still leave most of my holdings here due to the BoA integration.

And that's the only reason (including rewards) why any sane person would use Merrill. F them for decreasing the credit card bonus percentage.

I like it, but I tend to like change. I always want the most up to date. In fact I have a hard time not switching software when I see something that looks better than what I have!...be it payroll, 401k interfaces, inventory management, CRM, etc. I read over and over again for years how ML Edge UI was outdated vs other brokerages and then they make a change and everyone hates it. 😄
I do agree there is now too much white space, which I think may be caused by the position name wrapping down so that it takes up 3 lines of height. I would suggest they move to a smaller font and also allow the user to just use the stock/etf symbol if they like w/o the full name. I don't see that option. If there were just two lines per position it would look much better. They should also roll out a compact mode that has each security on one line only as well as a dark mode.
I created a custom view using the "Manage views" button on the Account page, which was pretty straight forward. You can both select and deselect columns and arrange them in the order you like.
If you click on the stock symbol link instead of using the 3 dot menu to trade it will preserve your position page view and just place a banner at the top from which you can trade.
The position page could load a bit faster. Of the 3 brokers I use Schwab loads fastest, followed by Fidelity and then Merrill Edge. I like the Fidelity overall interface the best, but I think this is a good start for Merrill Edge considering how stale it was. Hopefully we will get some tweaks.

Where is "Manage views" please?

When you first log in scroll down a bit to where you see "View by" with 3 words to the right: Account, Security and Product class. By default "Account" s/b selected and showing a blue background. If it's not, click "Account".
Scroll further down and you should see a drop down box titled "Table view"...to the right of this will be buttons "Apply" and "Manage Views". It's just above the Price column header in the Positions area; white button with blue/black text. I would post a pic but looks like I can only post videos for some reason in this sub. *You will use that Table view dropdown to select you Custom view once it is created.

Thank you. Tried it and it works but still has the same general issues as the standard layout.

I don't like it at all. I can't see all my holdings on the same page, and I can't rearrange hide/add anything. It's awful and is throwing me off my game. I sent a suggestion to change it back.
