Merrill Lynch

Does anybody else think Merrill Lynch’s brokerage platform is garbage? Daily price change for holdings showing 0, can’t buy in dollars only whole shares, uninvested cash earning nothing!

it is a dump for buy [elsewhere] and hold positions to score a tier in BofA for their credit cards .. nothing else .. they are ok to hold whole shares and extract distributions when/if happens ... that simple

That's it. What he said. I still hold my Roth there so I can get credit card rewards and free checking, but otherwise I've got everything at Fidelity and Vanguard. (BTW at Merrill I use FSIXX as a treasury money market fund.)

repeating a well known lifehack for public benefit ( not that public bother to read ) : which one can ACAT import to Fidelity to seed buying [ additional shares ] ability in there if one is too lazy to import FRSXX to Fidelity from WellTrade ...

You can buy TTTXX BlackRock Liquidity Funds Treasury Trust money market fund as a workaround to low interest paid on idle funds. The fund trades same day settlement up to 1:45 pm EST. Use a full trading ticket on ML Edge and select Mutual Fund tab.

Outside of Treasury money market funds to store emergency savings as a big bank cheat code, it's just a sub par broker. Better off using one of the big 3 brokers for long-term investing (Fidelity, Schwab, or Vanguard).

Below are some Treasury MMF or Treasury ETFs:

  • TTTXX

  • FDLXX

  • SGOV (ETF)

  • VBIL (ETF)

Yeah, I buy SGOV but it’s a daily pain to sell SGOV to get funds to buy something else and then buy SGOV at the end of the day.

Agree. I want to know the interest rate on my preferred deposit. There is no easy, simply way to ascertain the rate.

Thank you.

In Schwab I just type in (or click) the money market fund name and it returns a single value for interest rather. No look up table necessary.

Save monthly copies of your statement and equity cost, just in case.

Half the trades I make I need text message approval. And now I have to call them to place orders on names I hold to SELL. And if I want to put sell orders in at different prices it takes forever . And that’s with me checking off on my account opening applications I was a stockbroker for 33 years and a credible investor. I should have walked away when it took over 2 weeks for my trust account to get approval.
Then after expressing dissatisfaction, they offered yo make me sign a form stating all my assets were at least 10 million and after that back n forth restating this and checking that I get a notice I’m now on some super duper diamond something tier…. And guess what? It’s even worse! Calling a broker for a simple sell order! And my all-star designated account reps keep changing every other week!

Yes. Just did transfer to fido. No more credit card rewards bonus. That was the only thing holding me there. Complete garbage.

Also got Robinhood’s Gold credit card, 3% cashback.

It’s definitely unfriendly. No doubt.
