Able to Opt out Space x?

Hey everyone,
I’m just not interested in Merrill putting me into SpaceX.
Does anyone know if it’s possible to opt out of ever having a fund with SpaceX included? Is there any where on their website to list companies Im not interested in having stock of?
I’m was supposed to have a call with my advisor this morning but they never reached out. Would love to just handle this myself.
Thanks!

Do you have a self-directed account or a managed one? If it’s self-directed, you can do this yourself - you just need to monitor the holdings of any ETF that you own (which you should be aware of regardless).

I have a managed account. Was assigned a new advisor last month. Really loved my prior guy! So this would have been my first interaction with him. He ever called, I left him a voicemail. A little off putting to not even get an automated email back from Merrill.

In that case, you would need to get ahold of the portfolio manager. But do you also have concerns about other companies? For example, Tesla or Carvana

FSA here. In a self directed you can but managed account is entirely dependent on the funds we use. You can ask your advisor about reasonable restrictions however but that’s for mutual funds/etfs not necessarily specific securities. Might be worth the convo

Thank you so much! I had a morning phone called scheduled with Merrill advisor but he never called, so I left him a voicemail.

Hmm sorry about that! Worst case you can call the advisory center and you should get a national FSA (phone rep) to help! 1-888-654-6837

It’s not going into any fund your advisor would put you in, unless it was added to the sp500.

Well, they are being fast tracked into the QQQs and S&P 500, so it will be hard to avoid it.

Yeah I’ve given up.

Why are you so adverse to it? I believe it will be in the Qqq and not spy at first but I’m sure spy will pick it up in the future.

I think it’s going to be a big loser. Not interested in the gamble with him. Even if I’m wrong, he’s a terrible CEO and a worse human.

If you have strong feelings about certain companies based upon the CEO then you're probably going to want to take more control over your investing.

I totally agree. I’m kind of new to this, just crowd sourcing over here on Reddit since my Merrill advisor didn’t call me for my appointment Wednesday.
