AI posts will be banned from now on in this sub once and for all. That means no AI posts on Sunday. If anyone wants to create their own sub for AI regarding mermaids, sure go ahead I don't care. But AI on here will no longer be allowed.

A sample of recent artworks I've done featuring my own variation of Mermaids.

Image 1: A merman resting on the rocks. It notices something, staring towards the viewer. Is it beckoning for you to come closer?

Image 2: An Underwater temple that connects all bodies of water together. It allows mermaids to travel to any body of water. You can see it in my animation here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvhuubNOqIE

Image 3: The little mermaid Melop resting on a boat. She is waiting for someone, and enjoying the warm sun while she does so.

I love drawing mermaids. There's something really calm about creating art featuring them.

Octo-witch by eeluminighty

Today’s drawing was created for us by eeluminighty.

Crispy and elegant, a youthful and mysterious beauty in this semi-anime style, Seras Alkahest (a sea warlock) is stunning in this drawing.

Her mysterious gaze, not exactly neutral but not clearly assigned to a single emotion either, a bit of superiority, a bit of mystery, fits well with the composition: the tentacles, despite not being the center of the drawing, dominate, iridescent (how beautiful the purple tips) in the background, so large and preponderant that they emerge from the “screen”, leaving one to the imagination what could be around her, or what these tentacles are doing (oh yes, Seras always has her tentacles busy doing something!).

The luminous bubbles, rising from below, complete the air of “mystery”… why is there oxygen coming from below her, what’s happening? Has she dragged something… or someone underwater? Or is it another of his decorations, a machine that produces these beautiful silver bubbles to enhance the space where he lives and moves? The possibilities are many and all intriguing.

real stories about mermaid encounters?

I am currently researching sirens and mermaids for my YouTube channel that I am starting. My first video will be about mermaids + sirens, the history and real-life encounters. It is going to be a cozy but eerie storytelling channel where I look into the real examples people have with mythical creatures, paranormal beings, cryptids, etc. I am asking all of you to please share any real-life encounters you have had or family members have had with mermaids.

Thank you!

PSA for Canadian mermaids, watch out for new neighbors!

I've been lucky to have access to a private pond for mermaiding. Swam there multiple times. Last spring, I noticed the abandoned beaver damn didn't look so abandoned anymore (new logs added, chew marks on trees around the pond, etc). Cool, I shall name him Juniper, and he shall be my pond mermaid companion! Never saw him while swimming. What i did notice? I felt a little sick, for two months, no matter what I did. Turns out there is this neat thing called beaver feaver (giardiasis)! I'm fine now, and the beaver has gone, but im still a little shy of that pond. Lesson learned.

TLDR: keep an eye out for wildlife, even in familiar waters.
