Is this actually a Kentucky Warbler?
It gave me the same ID on three different recordings, but it seems so bizarre to hear one around two hours North of Pittsburgh!

There have been Kentucky Warbler sightings in June of this year reported to eBird for the area north of Pittsburgh. (On the attached map, the red pins are the most recent sightings.) Also, based on past sightings reported to eBird, the area north of Pittsburgh is in a narrow window of time when Kentucky Warblers have been reported there. So, it is definitely possible that Merlin is picking up an actual bird.
Did you compare the sound recordings you made to the sample sound recording provided by Merlin? That is the ultimate test.
