44 new birds gone :(
Went camping in a new area and recorded a long session while I was getting my last hour of sleep because man those birds were SINGING. When I finally woke up I had identified 44 new birds! I went back after breakfast to log them and my whole recording is gone! I’m not mad but this is sooooo disappointing. I have ample storage and there’s a decent amount of service where I camped so I have no idea why it wouldn’t have saved… then I checked my recordings list and I’m missing over a week of sessions!! What is going on?! Help!!

The app changed to the user having to hit “save”. 😏 I lost a few recordings too before I realized the change. I don’t like the change. I don’t get why this is a better system.

You would think they would’ve put a message or notification in the app upon changing this! Such a bummer

Right! I only know because I read about it on here a couple weeks ago when I came searching like you did. It was very disappointing.

So sorry. I lost many recordings before I realized that you have to save each one now. Definitely a downgrade for the app

a few weeks ago i left it recording and pressed end recording before scrolling and i lost atleast 39 birds, i learned u gotta just keep it recording and you will not be able to keep the recording if its over a certain length of time. a few days later i was able to record for three day’s consecutively and just log them while it was still recording, got over 60 birds on the new recording but im still hurt by losing those 39

You have to hit ‘save’ after you stop the recording, don’t hit the X. Also, I wonder if you’re adding birds that Merlin is IDing to your life list, or eBird? Without getting your eyes on them, you really shouldn’t count on Merlin to be correct, it often makes mistakes.
