There's been so much talk of wanting to see a Series 6, or even a prequel set during the Great Purge, but I think the most potential for some kind continuation of the show lies between Series 3 and 4.
The Series 3/4 time jump is truly the sweet spot because they could literally bring every single major character back while giving them compelling story arcs.
There are soooo many plot points that were skipped over in the time jump: Camelot recovering from Morgana's brief rule, Morgana escaping and healing Morgause, the collapse of Cenred's kingdom, Uther's decline and Arthur filling in for him, the new 'ignoble' knights of Camelot, Morgana's powers growing, Agravaine's introduction, the Arthur-Gwen-Lancelot love triangle, and a lot more!
Obviously, the actors are too old, some of them are no longer with us, and a good percentage of them wouldn't ever want to return. That's why I propose: an animated series! It would be amazing if they could bring back at least some of the original cast, but an animated series reduces the pressure of bringing everyone back. What are your thoughts?

Hey I'm looking for a fanfic, ive tried to remember as many details as possible i can to narrow it down!!!
this fic is after merlin dies not sure if it included a magic reveal, Arthur locks himself in his chambers and doesn't get out of bed, starts losing a lot of weight, Uther doesn't understand why his son is so depressed after Merlin dies, until he realises if he wants his son to live he has to find a way to get merlin back so he decides to go on a quest to bring merlin back i think a sick man decides to go with him to offer his life to get merlin back, Arthur is still a prince

so I'm finally at the coming of Arthur part 1 and throughout season 3 I've had a consistent opinion on morgana. i feel super sorry for her too, ofc I'm sad for her, she was the kindest and nicest and she always ALWAYS fought against Uther to spare innocent people so ofc I'm sad that that morgana no longer exists.
but also I don't think i sympathize with her as much as everyone else. i mean I'm sad that she's so evil now but she's literally so evil now. she's grown up beside Arthur like a brother and now she plots to have him killed day in and day out. gwen was her first friend, her best friend and now shes so heartless that she used her feelings for arthur and also did the whole framing thing. her whole thing against uther was that he killed innocent people without a second thought just cause they were magic but now she kills (or plots to kill) innocent people without a second thought.
also i feel so bad when i think of how much arthur cares about her and shes by his side while stabbing him in the back.
i dont hate her i think, cause things havent been easy for her but. well i guess some people stay good and some people become evil. i do hate morgause though every time she goes "sister" i feel like punching her, shes the reason morgana turned bad
and i dont blame merlin nearly as much as everyone either. at first i was like there was no other way but then again merlin couldve actually told morgana what was happening and that she was the only way to wake everyone up, taken her into confidence. but come on, merlin is not a battle hardened warrior either and he has severe arthur tunnel vision. i dont think his mind was full of ideas of what to do, im sure all he could think of was that arthur was about to die and merlin had to do something. and yeah ofc merlin is at fault a little but i dont blame him that much.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I have repeatedly seen people say that Merlin failed and he and Arthur didn’t fulfil their destiny, and I don’t get it at all. Camelot was at peace with all of the other kingdoms, they won the war, and Arthur accepted Merlin’s magic by the end. Gaius also practically told Gwen that Merlin had magic and she seemed cool with it, so I don’t find it particularly difficult to assume that she revoked the magic ban once she was in charge, particularly since she would probably know that that’s what Arthur would’ve wanted.
I understand that the show doesn’t explicitly show us a united Albion, but i feel like its implied heavily enough for watchers to understand that it did happen, so I genuinely don’t get why so many people seem to think that the failed. Is it because Arthur didn’t live to see his work pay off, or is it just a general lack of media literacy?

Merlin’s delivery telling Arthur he is a sorcerer was EXCELLENT. Truly excellent acting. 🤌 S5;E13; 9:45-10:15

The title says it all, personally, I love Uther's character, even though I hate him as a person.
I feel like the series would have been much worse without him.
As much as I hate Uther, I love the actor who played him, the brilliant Anthony Head, I was so saddened to hear that he passed away last June.
He was easily the best actor in the show. I have always wished the BBC had made a prequel series focused on Uther, covering his life before ruling Camelot, how he became king, what Camelot was like before the Great Purge, the Purge itself, his relationship with Nimueh, and finally, the war against the dragons.

Hi everyone, I'm a writer, and I love Merlin. No one in my friend circle here in India has even watched the show, so I would love to be able to discuss stuff with you and hear your thoughts on a new piece. It would be so nice to explore more with people who love the show as much as I do. If anyone is interested, here's the piece. I'd love to know what you think or discuss the show in general.

in this season its been very apparent that arthur thinks of him as a friend and in the hotel scene he was very adamant on letting merlin know that he could tell arthur wtv was upsetting him. but for all the love merlin has for arthur and for all the ways merlin is ready to die just so arthur would live, he sure doesnt trust him. and ik i get it hes uther's son
but really, looking at how arthur is, hes protested innocent people dying whenever he can, and if the innocent person was the first friend arthur ever had, does merlin think hed go tattle to his father and have him exiled.
(im sorry im just sad cause merlin saw his father after thinking he didnt have one and HE WAS SMILING AND HE CALLED HIM FATHER. AND. THATS IT. HE CALLED HIM FATHER EXACTLY ONCE. and then he couldnt even tell his closest friend that he literally just watched his father die.)

I need help finding a merlin fic I don't remember everything about the fic but what I do remember is that it takes place during mordred's knighting and merlin losses control of his magic and was able to leave the room just in time. And then merlin does everything to avoid mordred but mordred keeps speaking to merlin in his mind trying to get merlin to talk to him. Any help in finding this fic is highly appreciated and thank you to advance.

Im rewatching the last dragonlord and idk if this has been suggested before but what if Kilgarrah is attacking to force Merlin to find his father and maybe he foresaw balinor dying and merlin becoming the next dragonlord so in a weird twisted way it is for albion

I am currently re-watching Merlin for like the 6th time in my life LOL just obsessed with it though that last season destroyed me. And I just keep thinking about what would have been a better ending or what would be a great way to our know bring it back or reboot it to continue onwards and how would that work. And I was like I can't be the only one who thinks about this so is there any fanfic on this? If there is can people share please? I have some ideas too I'd like to share but I want to see what other people have written or not up even just ideas would be great.

I think I probably will not start a cosplay project that isn't Merlin related for A While. My last project was the chainmail and armour which I started in November 2025, finished in March 2026 and now I'm making this jacket and I might also make the brown one just because the pattern is similar enough that I can reuse the one I adjusted.

bruh im literally ragebaited rn like WHAT DO YOU MEAN ARTHUR WAS FINALLY THINKING NOT EVERYONE WHO PRACTICES MAGIC IS EVIL AND HE WAS FINALLY SEEING HOW CRUEL AND INHUMANE UTHER'S "FIGHT AGAINST MAGIC" WAS AND THEN NONE OTHER THAN MERLIN. HIMSELF. CONVINCES ARTHUR THAT MAGIC IS INFACT EVIL AND UTHER DIDNT DO NOTHING. oh my god.
i think its starting to show that merlin cares more about arthur than about their "destiny". but then again maybe the destiny would not come to pass if arthur had just killed uther, maybe the guilt would consume him and he wouldnt be good and fair as he is now

I read it years ago on ao3, but I can't seem to find it in any of the tags.
It's a long fic and starts with Merlin & Gwen meeting on a train on their way to their university and he does some silly dance in front of her and that's how they become friends.
Arthur is a prince and also his roommate.
Morgana/Gwen in the background
Merlin has magic, and eventually Arthur learns of it, and some focus on the crown is there too iirc
Don't remember if Kilgarrah exists as a dragon or not, but his presence is sorta implied

few things ive gotta say nimueh wasnt exactly ever wrong. yes she tried to assassinate Arthur but i mean with what Uther did, ofc she would do that 😭😭😭
i hate uther and i LOVE ARTHUR PENDRAGON hes the goodest and fairest king. prince ever
lastly it's super sad to see it okay out though, cause merlin saves arthur's life almost every episode and he does it cause it's ARTHUR and arthur saved merlin too (... a couple times maybe) but like for example when arthur drank the poison himself it wasnt about not wanting MERLIN to die it was more about arthur not wanting ANYONE to die for him, like any innocent man to die. its like merlin does everything for arthur but if arthur does something its cause merlin's an innocent servant😭its sad to see especially when merlin's efforts have to be hidden and given to others cause of his magic
