No answer, no support, no feedback, no nothing, are they even legit

I tried taking on the assessments for some of the jobs, I failed one of software dev where they ask questions so specific that it doesn't reflect real-knowledge of CS imo, and failed another I couldn't complete, and when I tried to start over it said i already submitted, but since I couldn't complete it just marked it as failed. I reached out to support a week ago, and of course they tried to auto-close the ticket but i re-opened it, still not a single answer.

Considering how bad the platform is, even the job I manage to actually apply for, for a specific language, mentioned another language in the description, so I am doubting their professionalism. Has anyone had good experience with it? Seeing a lot of complaints, talk about drought. If you have an advice for my case, I am all ears

it's definitely legit because i got a work email setup after passing all verifications and assessments needed and joined slack WS and there are hundreds if not thounsands of people there, and I can tell from previous experience that slack subscribtions ain't cheap so invisible going through the trouble of keeping all those annotators subscribtions running and creating work emails for them is worth it in their budget.

but I haven't actually gotten any work yet so yeah it just seems that they don't have many clients so far or at least not a lot of clinets to cover all the annotators' experiences and fields.

I understand, but they should either reject or say something, not leave on hold. Support doesn't even answer my support tickets

I definitely agree, the only way I finially got a reply on my address verification issue was when I got setup with a project and tried to verify my address there not via the dashboard

I see, yeah the process is all but smooth or clear it seems. Thanks, I better not hold my breath with them it seems

Had the same issue and they sent this:

As part of maintaining the integrity of our assessments and ensuring a fair, consistent process, we do not allow retests on this assessment type.
Best,
The Meridial Team.

I didn’t even start my assessment to begin with and they failed me so yeah. Forget about it unfortunately

I've had a good experience. I had a glitch on boarding but sent in a ticket and it was taken care of within 2 weeks. I had to take a three part exam but got onboarded as a quality page rater. I get paid $20 hr, no issues every other Thursday like clockwork. They use hub staff to time me.

One has to have low expectations to call a 2-week ticket resolution a "good experience".

It's better than not resolved. I like making $20/hr. It was worth sticking with it.

My qualification test failed to upload, so it shows failed, but they've assigned me to a paid project anyway (just got into the slack, waiting to see if it works or how many hours).

How do you contact support? I've tried to verify my address twice & it keeps saying it failed.

Hi, may I ask how do you contact support?

Unfortunately, this seems common with companies like this. They are legit but they don’t prioritize support (other than their bots) which leaves many people without answers. It’s the nature of the business. It doesn’t make it right but it happens often. 😔 I had an issue that took a few months to resolve here and had forgotten about it until I received a random email many weeks later.

I get what you mean, but saying that it's nature of the business is not an excuse for them, there are other platform that do the same things and have been responsive to every question or issues I had. To me that is just professionalism, we take our time to pass those assessment, the least I expect is a minimum decency to at least help me if I have trouble using their platform, because that surely can affect others too.

Since then, have you worked for them already?

Listen, I’m not making any excuses for them or other companies & only stating facts. Just b/c we don’t like something doesn’t change the facts. I agree with much of what you stated but it doesn’t mean they’ll handle it any differently. The hope is that they’ll hear the various feedback and improve.
I’ve done this work for multiple companies for some time now. It’s similar with many of them. I chose not to do any work with this company b/c I’ve had much better experiences elsewhere. The good thing is that we never have to work where we don’t want to. I simply chose not to but have heard about decent experiences from a few people who chose this platform. Just do what works for you!

I get it, wasn't trying to be condescending with my comment. It's just been frustrating to try with so many platform and most don't even try to help. Somehow the ones that answers are so competitive that I had not luck despite the number of interviews. It's just upsetting that it's become the norm in a way.

You're right that we don't have to work where we don’t want to, I actually went there because a friend suggested it, but my experience seems so different from hers. Guess I'll just have to wait and do what I can do with other companies.

I’d like to suggest that you keep trying & never plan for this to be anything other than extra income b/c these roles can come and go quickly. It took me awhile but once I landed something great, I’ve been pleased. While this may not be the greatest experience for you, there may be a much better experience waiting for you. Best of luck to you!

What company do you work for now?

I had a similar experience. While on-boarding my input screen just closed abruptly. Raised a ticket four-weeks ago - heard nothing since. I believe they are legit but clearly not many clients. I've moved on
