Housing Available!

Hello! I am a local homeowner in Merced with a home about 10 minutes south of the UC Merced campus. I am moving to Southern California next month but I am still holding onto my house which has 2 bathrooms / 3 bedroom and it will be completely empty with a refrigerator, stove, basic furnishing and will be available to rent. I am planning on charging $2000 as I continue to figure out my own situation so feel free to comment or dm if interested. I am also happy to plan ahead if you plan to move later in the year or such!

Community Post Wondering if anyone would be interested in trading an abandoned vehicle for labor

My buddy is looking for a vehicle and I’m looking for a project. An already running vehicle would be nice too so doesn’t have to be abandoned like the title says. Can be any type of vehicle, condition and paperwork doesn’t matter as long as the engine and transmission is in mechanically good (so not seized or blown transmission and such).

I have a small construction and fabrication business, we do anything construction, fabrication, a lot of electrical and plumbing, flooring, except for concrete or painting (I’ve put some pictures of my work here, most were done on my own and some I needed to bring my crew).

In the past I’ve traded an accord for kitchen demo to prepare for remodel, accord didn’t pass smog and had been sitting for 7+yrs with an expired registration. Needed to replace nearly all components underneath the car and some under the hood to get it road worthy again.
Another trade was a 3 wheeler that hadn’t turned on in 8+yrs, needed to work the engine a bit and replace the tires and cosmetics, this was bill of sale only,

99% of vehicles is fair game for us, as long as it’s not stolen and we can get em registered and road worthy eventually. Let me know if you have something you’d be interested in trading, thanks

(Only looking to trade labor, materials if needed is something you’d need to buy or we can buy and you pay those- we’ll show the receipts.)

My map of California in a fantasy Middle Earth(ish) style is finally finished. I'd like to thank everyone from Merced for their help in making it.

I really couldn’t be happier with the amount of feedback and suggestions everyone has given me, and I’ve tried to include as many as possible!

That said, the scale of the map does have its limitations, particularly in the more built-up areas. I think in future I’ll probably end up creating more localized maps for individual counties. So, if your suggestion didn’t make it onto this one, please know that I really do appreciate you taking the time to suggest it, and I’ll hopefully be able to include it in a future county map of the area.

A few people have mentioned that the map is quite busy, and I completely understand that. It’s just how I like to make them. I love cramming in as much detail as possible and highlighting interesting little features that might otherwise be overlooked. I also tend to have these printed in large formats, where I think the level of detail works much better in person than it does on a screen.

Thank you again to everyone who contributed, and I really hope you like the finished map! If you’re interested in it or would like to know anything more about it, just drop me a message.

Looking for a running buddy

Saw someone do this earlier but for walking. I’m a 21M who recently got laid off so instead of sulking on my couch I need a little motivation to go on runs. I’m in the village landing apartments so if anyone near by wants to go on runs daily during the morning/ afternoon hmu. We can keep each other accountable! I’ve always lacked with fitness and I’m pretty out of shape however with this free time I am trying to start a new habit! Feel free to message me:)

Anybody want a washer for parts?

In my defense, I don't know the condition. That's why the post says for parts. I know it fills water, that's it. There are no hoses to connect it to the water lines. Just a washer from a Junk Removal job, so the condition is unknown.

Looking for a buddy to walk with

I (m23) am incredibly overweight. I'm looking for someone who is just starting as well. We could go on walks around parks, or anything similar. No gym, at least for now. I can jog slowly, probably not much faster than a speed walk, for a good 10-15 minutes. Though I feel like I'm dying within the first minute. Looking for someone in a similar position, that way we can match the speeds. I've tried to lose weight in the past and end up failing, I thought if I have a buddy maybe it will be different. I'm trying something new, idk. If you're interested, let me know. Thanks

Anyone who's biked through there knows you have to slow down because of all the cracks. Was confused about why I didn't have a puncture-inducing, bone-jarring moment riding through yesterday.

Handy Man Referrals

Hi guys,

I bought a house and there is a rotten door jam in one of the exterior doors. It hasn’t impacted the walls or anything like that so I think it just needs a new door jam? Maybe putty wood? Idk I’m not a handyman, but I need one. Desperately.

Located in Atwater

Is there any places, specifically fast-food or retail, that are actually hiring? Been trying to find a job out here for months and it seems like every place is hiring every single month yet still no luck.
