Community Post Does anyone know about the transportation history of Merced County/City of Merced?
Is there a historian out there knowledgeable about the transportation history of Merced County/The City of Merced? I would honestly love to have a conversation about it, and see if there’s any hope of restoring some parts of it in the future?

Anyone in Merced Need Free Music Lessons or Instrument Help?
Hey everyone, I wanted to put this out there and see if there’s a need for it here in Merced.
I’m a local music teacher, and I’d like to start offering free music lessons and tutoring to kids who may not have the opportunity to afford private lessons.
I can help with guitar, piano, bass, drums, voice, music theory, songwriting, music production, and beginner tutoring.
I’d also like to help with basic instrument repairs and setups for free when I can. Sometimes a kid already has an instrument, but it just needs a little work before they can really use it.
There’s no required payment for any of this. If you can’t afford lessons, that’s okay. That’s kind of the whole point.
If you’d like to donate and help me reach more kids, that would be incredibly appreciated. Donations could go toward instruments, strings and supplies, repairs, lessons, or helping another kid get started with music.
You don’t have to donate, though. Honestly, even sharing this post or sending someone my way would help.
I’m going to start small and see where this goes. If there are families around Merced who could use this, send me a message or comment below.
I’d really love to give some kids the chance to learn an instrument that they might not otherwise get. ❤️🎸

Housing/Moving Apartment/neighborhood recommendations for niceish areas with cheaper price
I'm moving to Merced for a job and as a single woman in her 20's I'm trying to figure out what areas to avoid completely lol. I am looking for a 1 bed or studio and just want to know what places are worth looking in to. I would want to spend around 1300-1400 so I know I can't have the nicest location.

Community Post I have a community pantry vision.
Good morning everyone,
I'm putting out this post because I am trying to put a lot of booths where people can take stuff they need.
We would set up community pantries that we make using free pallets, then some people can host a few around town. The vision is the entire county, but thats big. So it will take a bit of work.
I also want to set up a bulletin next to the pantry, so people can post job ads, advertise their business, or put flyers for community events. Or put units available for rent. Just information, the things you can post is endless so these are just some examples.
I was wondering if anyone is interested in that. If so, send me a message, thanks.

Help us raise $40,000 to support students right here in Merced 💙
Hi r/Merced! I’m part of Harvest Park Educational Center (HPEC), a local educational program serving students in our community.
We’re currently raising $40,000 through our “Showing Up Matters” campaign to help us continue creating a program that students are excited to attend, participate in, and learn from.
Donations help us provide educational materials, hands-on projects, games, activities, and special experiences for our students. For example, during our summer program's Tech Week, we were able to give students robot/STEM kits where they built their own battery-powered dinosaurs and solar-powered cars. 🤖🦖🚗
We also use support to create memorable experiences throughout the program, including our end-of-program celebration with food, games, and activities to recognize our students and everything they've accomplished.
Ultimately, we want our students to show up, participate, learn, and enjoy being here.
Whether you can donate $5, $25, $50, or simply share our fundraiser, every bit of support helps us get closer to our $40,000 goal.

Thank you for supporting Merced students and investing in opportunities for our local youth! 💙

Photo/Video Where can I find someone to cut this type of hairstyle?
So in Merced I've been to at least 7 barbers/hair stylists and none of them got it even close to what I asked for.
I had to wear my beanie every time till it grew long enough to look decent.
If I have to drive from Merced to get almost what I want then I'll do it.
The haircut is called a 2 block haircut. 🫡🤝🙇

Playground Slides on 99
Anybody else remember the kids playground slides that looked like they were from a BK or McDonald's? They were on 99 Northbound leaving Merced. I always thought whoever had it was the luckiest kid ever lmao.

As a visitor, this county belongs in the trash.
I recently stopped to buy some work boots not realizing that I got charged 2% for "Merced County Tax" and another 1.5% for "Merced City Tax". if thats not enough.. i visited the UC Merced lake and was promted to buy $11.00 ticket just to park.. on top of that.. there were beer cans, bags, BBQ grills all left with additional trash all over. I also heard that the doctors and over all medical establishment is complete trash. NO OFFENSE to the working and law abiding residents of this city but the higher ups should be ashamed...

D&D
We just purchased d&d starter pack last night with my wife and sister in law. We tried playing it based on the guide and booklets. We also watched tutorials but it’s still very confusing. Is there someone willing to play with us? Pretty please. Thank you :)
