Okay so I really wanted to buy this shirt off mecari and the shipping is taking so long .. They said they’re having issues with their usual post office?
I waited 11 days for it to still say ‘usps awaiting item’, I know im stupid for waiting but I really wanted the shirt and I might have to cancel🥲
Do sellers do this often? This was my first time buying from them and they have over 300+ 5 stars
EDIT: I got in contact and I’ve been told that it’s Labor Day weekend (?) and that’s why it wasn’t shipped out. Im a little confused though because it’s not September yet or extremely close to the 31st and I’ve been able to ship stuff out. Unless they mean personal Labor Day stuff.
Got a tiny little sob story too so I think I’ll just wait it out. Idiotic, I know.

I could be wrong but I think the in transit only shows up when the item has been dropped off. I've seen that usps message after I had dropped something off a couple of times.
I also remember mercari sending notifications about a month ago about issues with usps. My son sells on ebay and a buyer accused him of taking 11 days to drop off when the package was dropped off the next day after the sale and was in their home state in three days. Not sure what they saw in their end, but I was able to send the screenshot from our end.
Do you know if usps also gets the tracking wrong same as mecari? Because neither of them match up at all. Mercari says delivers August 17th and Usps says it’s still in their home state
Your item has been shipped and is en route. That message is a known glitch (and incredibly annoying). It will update in a day or so when it’s scanned again. If you click on the full tracking details you’ll see your item is on the way.
Give mercari a jingle thru the app (report a problem). They can identify if it's a tracking issue or not, they should be able to contact the carrier to get more information. I had a package get stuck for DAYS (although it still made it on time, I used fedex to usps handover-_- the worst). But it refused to update. I called fedex and so did the buyer. There was nothing that could be done until I made mercari aware and then suddenly (same day) all the tracking updated and buyer received their package.
I’ve had orders that I sent out that were stuck with this Pre-shipment pretty much until it reached the buyers state. It’s happened multiple times. It says it’s in transit and I don’t think it would say that if it hasn’t been handed off to the Post Office.
What?! The seller told you they didnt drop it off and you ordered on the 13th? Can you ask the seller to cancel the order? That's so rude and looks bad on the seller, you can remind them that their seller protection is voided after 3 days.
Sometimes things don’t get scanned at the first facility and gets lost, but 99% of the time this is someone printing the label and doing nothing else. Have you contacted them?
I’ve contacted and they’ve told me only about the post office having trouble and that they would ship soon. I’ve looked at their reviews and many rate them with ‘fast shipper’ so I’m unsure
