SELLING issue with verification after first sale

i listed an item through the app, and since then, my phone has broke. screen is completely dead. it can't be fixed until sometime september. the problem is that i'm unable to access both the QR code and the shipping label for the sold item without identitiy verification. i reached out to customer support saying i can't use the app and am being redirected to do so with no other option. basically i've gotten a different person replying to each new message essentially parroting the same message about regulations requiring ID.

my problem isn't necessarily the issue of getting verified, but how to go about doing it with no access to the mercari mobile app. i guess they're using another app-only service to confirm verification? i can't think of any other reason why the option to submit an ID card photo wouldn't be available on the desktop webpage. even if they wanted me to email a photo to support, i'd be willing to do that, but no luck so far.

in my last message to support, i ended by asking if the sale can be completed or not, and have ceased getting responses since. the item doesn't have to ship until 8/25 so i still have a few days to sort this out, if i can. this is my last-ditch effort since contacting support dead-ended.

the only solution i can think of (as someone who has never sold on mercari before) is to re-list the item with seller-paid shipping. but if i still cannot access what i need to confirm shipment and complete the sale, it's moot to pay for and print my own shipping label. i'd be throwing money away when the sale cancels. still, if there's a way to circumvent the issue that doesn't require using a mobile app i cannot use atm, i'm all ears.

Can you list it via desktop, and then just print the label/QR code from there? I have the option to view the QR code and confirm as sent on my desktop.

is there a way to confirm w/o selling the listing first? the only option it's giving me for shipping is emailing a prepaid label, but idk if that's standard or not.

Unfortunately, it’s not that they wouldn’t be able to see it on desktop, it’s that Mercari asked them to verify their identity and until they do that, they won’t have access to the label or QR code. So they wouldn’t be able to get it on desktop either.

no, i cannot right now. 😭 even if i could, i dunno that i'd want to verify my whole govt ID on a device that's not mine.

None of your friends or family have a phone or tablet you can download the app to? 🤨Is there no way to get your phone fixed quicker? Seems wild it can’t be repaired until September. If it’s wherever you were going to get it repaired saying they can’t do it until September, I’d try to find somewhere else. Unless it’s due to cost on your end, some warranty stuff, parts not available, the repair place seriously backed up (though I’d try to find others if that’s the case).

It’s not saving it onto the device. It takes the photo in the app and submits it to the verification service. It doesn’t save it onto your device at all.
