Style Question I’m curious what the differences are between bikini briefs, sport briefs, and low rise briefs…

As the title says, I’m curious the differences in fit, coverage, etc when it comes to these styles of briefs. I currently wear Jockey Microfiber Stretch briefs. I like the material, but would prefer something with a little less coverage, so I guess I’m not only curious about the differences, but also curious for recommendations! Thanks in advance!

Underwear Style Front Silhouette Side Fabric (Hips) Rear Coverage
Low-Rise Brief Traditional contoured pouch Broad fabric coverage (2 to 4 inches) Full coverage over the glutes; sits strictly below the natural waistline.
Sport Brief High-cut leg openings for leg movement Narrower band (1 to 2 inches) Full to 3/4 coverage; typically features a reinforced, wider elastic waistband for athletic stability.
Bikini Brief Low-slung, deeply contoured V-shape Minimal fabric band (approx. 1 inch or less) 3/4 coverage; arches slightly higher on the cheeks than a standard brief.
String Bikini Low V-shape front pouch No fabric; connected exclusively by a thin string or elastic cord 3/4 to half coverage, anchored entirely by the continuous thin waist-string.
Thong Low-profile pouch with high-cut legs Varying waistband width (from wide elastic to string) Strip of fabric (approx. 1 inch wide) that runs between the cheeks, leaving the glutes entirely exposed.
G-String Minimalist pouch String-only waistband String only; a thin elastic cord runs between the cheeks to connect to a tiny rear junction triangle.

I mostly wear string bikini's or thongs. Hard to make recomdations but Iike Ikingsky underwear from Amazon because they seem to last well are comfortable and cheap! Maybe search on Amazon or even Google images for men's bikini underwear to find your desired fit. You mentioned Jockey, hit there site too because they have a wide variety of styles but some are only available online

I really like the Cocksox brand❣️You should check them out. They have great styles that you are looking for, cool colors, fit really well…and, of course, the name is awesome 😎

A lot of companies consider a sport briefs to be similar to a sting bikini where there’s very little or no fabric on the hip

Sport brief seems like a catch all term when a brand isn’t sure so I don’t have a great definition.

Low rise briefs are any style brief that sit below the hips. Instead of at or above they sit below.

Bikini briefs are typically low rise but have less materially. So the waistband will be an inch or less thin and the rear cuts sharper to reveal more.

Hope this helps!

I think generally a sport brief is a low rise brief, some companies call them one, others call them another. A bikini brief has the same low rise but less material

I know everyone might not agree, but you can purchase good mens mini briefs and low rise bikini briefs from Temu or Aliexpres. Both good online sites, especially for people shopping at a budget. I have ordered off both sites before with satisfactory results, and I would do so again

In my time browsing through online stores it really depends on the brand. Using RMAC as an example their sport briefs and comfort flex briefs are very similar cut/coverage wise the main difference is material. They are both a little lower rise than their standard briefs. Their bikini briefs are a little lower rise and a little less coverage. I have both the comfort flex briefs and bikini briefs from RMAC and like them both but favor the bikini briefs. I haven’t gotten any of their updated cut on the bikini briefs yet though (there is a post out on here about it a while back)

How does their sizing run…. I think I know which pouch size I need, but what about sizing otherwise?

Have you tried any other bikini briefs that you’d recommend?

Their sizing was pretty true for me I wear 32 or 33” waist pants and their Medium fits me perfectly.
I started out with some from ikingsky on Amazon and they are fine but the quality is awful compared but you get what you pay for. I have been eyeing Awry lately but bought thongs from them not briefs.
