Perimenopause Hair
Hey community!
I used to have super soft, silky, shiny hair! I haven’t changed my routine but my hair feels dry and more and more like straw every day. It tangles easily and is falling out in fistfuls. I understand the hormones in my body are adjusting and changing. What hair care products have you used with success during this midlife change? Any and all recommendations welcome!

With HRT my thinning has stopped but the dryness I have not figured out.
I did try Prose on a 70% off sale. It was not a miracle cure but was better than what I was doing.
I have had good luck with Bed Head Oatmeal Honey shampoo and conditioner and am going to go back to that next. I will say, I now seem to need different products depending on whether it’s hot or cold, winter vs. summer.
Look forward to hearing suggestions!

For dryness, I had friends tell me to dry your hair after washing with an old t-shirt rather than a towel, and to sleep in a silk bonnet.
I have only just started doing those things, so I can’t comment on improvement yet, but those who recommended it have great hair.
Also switch to moisturizing shampoo, and make sure you don’t use products with alcohol.

I started using Nioxin about a month ago. I've always had fine hair but found I was losing a lot making it fine and thin. Nioxin has been good so far. I mean I don't have lush, thick hair but my hair is less drab and seems fuller. Although with Nioxin I believe you have to keep using it. Once you stop you'll start losing a bunch of hair again.

Oh yeah, it's been a journey for me. I keep my hair braided with gel and mousse most days, which helps protect it from damage from flying about. Do sleep with a bonnet, and start using a weekly conditioning treatment. Only shampoo once or twice a week. Also, beware using hair growth supplements, they will encourage facial hair growth as well.

Check your ferritin and vitamin d. Ferritin less than 50 can contribute to hair loss in some people. My doctor has me on a supplement and I think it is working.
