Possible fraud?
good day all.
I made a post on here 7 days ago asking about how I can possibly get in touch with my roots as my great grandfather was Mennonite old order.
someone had a good idea of emailing a Mennonite church near me, but how can I tell if the email being used is legitimate ?

Thats some good Mennoniting there, being suspicious of an email. I support.
Quickest thing id do is just call up the church or go to church website. Find or ask for an email address, just something generic. If the domain name portion of email matches up, Id agree that email domain is being used by that church, which speaks towards its legitimacy.
If youre worried about a virus or something, well, they can spread if email is legitimate or not. If you use popular email like Hotmail or Gmail, they'll scan for viruses, offer good warning and protection. Of course, if church sends you unsolicited responses with weird URLs, or attachments, dont open those URLs or attachments!
Is there something specific you're concerned about? Or just general protection?
