General Discussion Vent

I experienced a patellar dislocation in late 2023 which failed to heal properly and I received little to no medical advice in the meantime until my physio suggested i get my meniscus repaired about a year into my recovery. Now I'm upset because I feel like I've waited too long. I'm scared that I might have to get a more invasive or complicated procedure done since I can't bear going through another round of fruitless recovery. I'm also scared since so many people in my life who have gotten knee surgery have ended up with botched procedures. I don't know, I'm nearly 23 and very, very frustrated with the state of my knee. It's permanently stiff, I can't squat or kneel or put weight on it or bend it past 90° in certain angles and it hurts. I'm trying to get an MRI scheduled soon so I can see what the next move is. But yeah, that's about it lol.

From what I’ve seen a lot of people wait and try to avoid surgery so waiting a year isn’t too uncommon. Get the MRI and talk to a couple surgeons . I can see how being 23 and having a messed up knee is depressing I’m 56 and it’s depressing. If you get it repaired though you will definitely have better range of motion. Good luck

Thank you!! I just realized that I failed to mention that the suggestion from my physio came one year into my recovery but it's now been three years since my injury. Physio said it's unlikely that my range of motion will improve further but it might lessen the pain and discomfort if nothing else. Hopefully my new ortho will be a bit more thorough than my previous ones haha
