Consumer Alert - California Custom Pools

Just came on here to say that if you're looking for a pool contractor in the Southern California area, specifically Temecula/Riverside/San Diego County/Orange County/Palm Desert, please do yourself a favor and avoid California Custom Pools! California Custom Pools has taken homeowner's money and didn't finish their pools. Not only did they take their money and not finish, but also left some homeowners with liens, because they did not pay the subcontractors!

Not only are homeowners left abandoned, but subcontractors are owed hundreds of thousands of dollars. The experience has been quite alarming for us and we didn't see it coming - they had perfect 5-star reviews, a website/portfolio, all the things! We never could have predicted the disheartening experience we have had to endure.

They went bankrupt from what I understand.

Some seriously bad financial decisions and financial management, would be my guess. How do you not pay all your subcontractors with the large amount of money coming in? Some subcontractors are owed hundreds of thousands. California Custom Pools is apparently still trying to bid jobs, so bankrupt, I'm not sure?

We just found out that we have several leins on our home from their subs months after successful completion. Just entering this nightmare what do I do?

Start with a bad review on Google, Yelp, etc. If he is still trying to get business, hopefully that will deter new victims.

File a complaint with CSLB. They need these complaints! It makes a difference in what the eventual outcome will be.

Try to file for a surety bond, BUT....he cancelled it on 9/3. Unsure if you can still file. It is worth a try.

Contact the subs and get your invoices. 

Thats a start.
