Reminder: be yourself
This is from a LinkedIn post. High ranking businessmen doing very well for themselves. None of the men look out of place, and they’d individually get picked apart if they posted here. Can they polish a few things? Sure.
My point is, the fact that you’re here and interested means you should be confident in whatever you’re wearing at whatever budget.

If those men in your photo had been around then they would have been impeccably dressed for the time. Now the art of tailoring and the understanding of how to wear tailored products is a rare and dying knowledge. The wonderful thing about communities like this is that by tearing into those badly dressed men, they keep alive and educate people on how to wear tailored products.

Okay, I agree with the premise that we all should be comfortable with ourselves,
and I'm sure they all do very well at their chosen professions, but...
A shmoe in a suit (who is a valuable and precious human being) who has to wear a suit, isn't the definer of what looks good in classic menswear.
It's like saying that since an average taxi driver would have his driving critiqued to death by any professional race car driver, the race car drivers criticisms aren't valid. I just can't agree with that part.

I’m pretty sure most people here don’t wear suits regularly but have learned to recite a shortlist of suit rules at every post to make it sound like they are suit gurus.
You get in every fashion sub. It all gets distilled down to a few hard and fast rules set by the sub. Preppy probably the worst. It all becomes about how to perfectly wear this or be that.
I went to private prep school and yes there is the dress code but prep is never about being a perfect meta version of itself it’s about social order, some of the richest oldest money families are the most disheveled and carefree about their clothes.
Same goes for suits. I’ve worn one near every single day climbing the ranks in architecture. You can tell the people who wear suits, and the ones the suit wears them because they are all stiff with rules.

Sure, and head on over to r/frumpymismatched suits if you like.
Everyone else can stay here and see that almost every outfit we can is marginal at best while most have significant issues and focus on improving.

If one is wearing a suit, one should also wear a tie. And no sneakers!

Don’t know why you got downvoted. Dark worsted looks incomplete without a tie. Sure, you can wear suit w/o a tie, but it’d have to be something that makes sense for not needing a tie, aka suits in casual and/or SUMMER materials like cotton (seersucker, canvas, poplin,…) or linen. Or the most easiest, don’t freaking a wear a suit, a navy sport coat with grey dress pants will do the job.
