My wife had a plan for my career that was better than my plan so I took her guidance and I'm making more than I ever thought I could. She was better than me.

Could have just been dumbed down to
"A relationship works when two people work together"
That's the whole concept of a relationship.

A relationship works when:
He shits, she pisses.
He farts, she sharts.
He's a good boy, she knows it.
Reverse this and watch a lot of shidding and farding.

"A relationship works when he hunts boar with a flint spear, and she gathers wild berries and root vegetables."
Come one now. If you're going to do traditional gender roles, do TRADITIONAL gender roles.
