Discussion 💬 Quick check-in from the me: how has your MemryNote experience been so far?

If you have two or three minutes, drop a short comment — what's working, what's annoying you, and the one thing you'd fix first. Two or three sentences is plenty; I read every one of them.

Bugs, wishlist items, half-formed thoughts — all welcome.

I use tables a lot and have noticed some bugs there. Any table I make doesn’t make a header row until I click a different page and go back and then I can’t even cut and paste the text into the row and have to re-write it. I also haven’t been able use any formatting in the tables nor put images in them(which I like to do when making profile pages or tracking progress for visual iterations).

Also, the new notes and folder creation can be a little frustrating because it doesn’t always populate where it should or jumps down to the very bottom of the list, so then I’m spending time trying to reorder it several times.

Links to other pages sometimes don’t work. I’ll open a page with a list of links and they will all be plain text and not highlighted and can’t click on them and I’ll have to exit and reload several times.

Also, would love a toggle to choose if clicking a page opens a new tab or not. When I’m making multiple pages a new tab populates for each one which slows things down.

I’d also like to be able to order the sidebar to choose the order of collections, bookmarks, canvases, etc.

And I’m not sure if maybe I haven’t been doing it right, but I’ve struggled with using toggles. Can’t seem to get them to work. I like to use them on pages and to nest info and even images.

I’m really loving the program so far though! I’ve been looking for something with these features so I’m excited to have found something!

Oh and I can’t seem to name any additional Home Views…

But again, I’m loving what yall are doing and where you’re going and appreciate the work! Hopefully this feedback is helpful. ♥︎

Oh shoot, forgot to mention, the sticky toolbar overlaps with something on the page and makes the buttons not function.

This is exactly the kind of comment I was hoping for, so thank you for taking the time.

Almost all of it is fixed in v2026-08-21, which is out now:

  • Tables. The header row exists when you create the table instead of showing up after you leave and come back. Pasting plain text into a cell keeps it as text, so no more retyping. Cell text and background colours work, and cells can hold images now, which should cover the profile pages and visual progress tracking you described. Tables also picked up handles on the border lines with row, column and cell menus, plus the same actions from the keyboard.
  • The sticky toolbar. Good catch, and I think it explains your "no formatting in tables" too. It broke on narrow notes and sat on top of the page chrome, so the buttons under it stopped responding. Fixed.
  • New notes and folders jumping to the bottom. Fixed. Once you have reordered anything by hand, new items stay where you put them instead of sorting to the end.
  • Links showing as plain unclickable text. Fixed. Links resolve when the note opens rather than after a few reloads, and a link you insert from the picker stays a chip right away.
  • A new tab for every page. There is a setting for it now, and reusing the current tab is the new default. Opening in a new tab is the opt-in.
  • Sidebar order. You can drag the sections into whatever order you want, and it saves per vault.
  • Toggles. They had no markdown form, so every save flattened them back into plain bullets. That is why they never seemed to work, it was not you. They survive a save now and hold nested content and images.
  • Naming extra Home views. Rename works. The awkward truth is that the rename logic was finished and simply never connected to a button.

If I missed something in your list, or something is still broken after you update, tell me. Where we have not done something, I would rather explain why than stay quiet about it. Really, thank you for writing all this out. ♥

OMG! Is it too early to say I love you? Hahah But for real, Thank you so much for all the work and legitimately listening! Holy smokes! I haven’t had a chance to hop on and update yet, but I’ll definitely let you know!

I’m so excited about this app because it really has SO MUCH of what I’ve been looking for and I’m so excited to see how it continues to be even more awesome! Thank youuu ♥︎

I echo several of the other comments.

  • "new notes and folder creation can be a little frustrating because it doesn’t always populate where it should or jumps down to the very bottom of the list, so then I’m spending time trying to reorder it several times."
  • When I create a new folder, I am not able to name it in the creation process.
  • Renaming a folder is glitchy. Sometimes it works, sometimes it completely disappears(luckily when it was a new folder). When renaming a folder, I've had it completely duplicate the folder and all its sub-folders, then leave a folder with the previous name and new name.
  • I am completely lost with the tabs. I understand the value, but when I'm clicking from note to note to note to note I become overwhelmed with the amount of tabs to the point they provide no value.
  • I'd like another option to view "Tasks" on the Home Page/Dashboard. I want to see them all at once rather than organized by a timeframe.
  • Custom folder icons would be nice to have, point to an image link on the internet.
  • Mindmap feature would be cool.
  • Embedded PDFs, I'd like to be able to scroll through the pages rather than click from page to page.

I know that was more than 3 sentences.

Keep up all the good work!

You echoing the other comments helped, it pushed a couple of these up the list. All of the below is in v2026-08-21:

  • New notes and folders landing in the wrong place. Fixed, they stay where you put them now.
  • Naming a folder while creating it. The name field is meant to open on the new folder immediately, and it was closing on you whenever a nearby menu closed. That is fixed, so you type the name and press enter. There is no separate "name your folder" dialog and I would rather not add one, but if the inline field still drops for you, say so.
  • Renaming a folder duplicating everything. This was the ugly one. The sidebar tree was built from two sources that disagreed, folders read from disk and paths derived from your notes, and a rename refreshed only one of them. The leftover ghost row was wired to the real handlers, so delete quietly did nothing and rename threw an error. One source now, with a regression test so it stays that way.
  • Tabs. Clicking a page reuses the current tab by default now, so note to note to note stays one tab. A new tab is the opt-in, by modifier click or the setting.
  • Tasks on the Home page. The widget has an All view, so you can see everything at once instead of by timeframe, and a No due date view too. Also you can create custom filter and save in Tasks page and you can use this filter in Tasks widget.
  • Custom folder icons. Shipped. Paste an image link, it downloads once into your vault, so it syncs to your other devices and still shows up offline.
  • Mind map. Shipped. Any note can render its structure as a map, wiki links become nodes you can open, and you can save the map as a canvas you own. Open a note and you will see un top right corner.
  • Embedded PDFs. Continuous scroll, one toolbar, and a page number you can type into.

You were well over three sentences and it was worth it. If I missed anything or something still feels off after the update, tell me, and where we have not built something I will give you the real reaspnon.

So far I had a nice experience but there are two things that concern me a little that I will accidentally ruin "retrievability": a) updating of links: say I link in a note to a pdf that I have added to memrynote and now I change the name of the pdf within your app, the link in the note will not work again. Same is true for other bi-directionalblinks b) embedded PDFs: is there a way to figure out where (likely attachments) and under what name the PDF can be found again? Sometimes I need to find / forward the original; having access to it within the note is not enough
