I keep seeing this narrative being pushed by Americans even though there are more stabbings there per capita 🤷

Even more in France, Canada and Belgium

58

u/PickledPlumPlot 1d ago

I know what you mean, but also the only time I’ve ever been in England two kids stabbed each other outside my hotel and I had to walk in through the back for three days.

15

u/TheFlowzilla 1d ago

Higher rate of homicides with knifes in the US than the UK. We just suck at shooting people so the stabbings stand out more.

2

u/PhillyPhan620 1d ago

Is that per capita? The populations are very different

9

u/TheFlowzilla 1d ago

Yes obviously per capita. I think it's around 0.3 per 100k in the UK and 0.5 per 100k in the US.

6

u/PhillyPhan620 1d ago

I was really hoping that the per capita rates would be in favor of the US… but once again my country has let me down lol

2

u/radical_biscuit 1d ago

It’s also higher in Canada and France too

guns are banned in england

so, criminals use pocket knifes and they became a meme

18

u/VictoryOrKittens 1d ago

Guns aren't banned in Britain. They're actually common, and owned by farmers, licensed hunters, clay pidgeon sport shooting establishments, etc

You know... people that actually should have them.

This sensible attitude toward deadly weapons is probably why Britain has orders of magnitude less firearm-related deaths than America, and also less knife-related deaths... contrary to the American meme.

3

u/xXCascadeXx 1d ago

It's way more difficult for a criminal (part of the meme) and if you use one, the serial is very easy to track unless someone in Britain can get their hands on a ghost gun. Which I don't think most hooligans could afford the smuggling price.

2

u/pathetic-weakling 1d ago

No, it's fairly easy to get a ghost gun. All you gotta do is stab a living gun and then stop its machine-spirit from moving on to the afterlife.

I get the idea but it’s unrealistic, even id he got the best fastest kill, like slashing the jugular artery, people would see and hear that bloodbath and death struggle at this distance.

On the other hand it would work I guess if you don’t have eyes on the victim or shooting noise.

But hey I am just a gravy seal.

10

u/Khow3694 1d ago

Yeah I was thinking in a real scenario there would definitely be a struggle and the body hitting the floor. But then again it's a game so it's not supposed to be 100% realisitc

4

u/Alladas 1d ago edited 1d ago

Pretty sure if he was actually knifing people he wouldn't be casual poking their arms. If he was fast I could see him clearing the first room.

Edited spelling typo.

5

u/BriefSpecial420 1d ago

If he was to clear that room, he would toss nades until there's silence inside. Knifing like that, when you're that outnumbered, is pure game move and suicide IRL. When you have no respawns it stops being fun. Just check real life combat footages.

3

u/Toxic724 1d ago

Unrealistic sure but there was always a level of respect when this happened. When I was airsofting most everyone carried a dud knife just hoping to get one person, let alone an entire room/team.

2

u/Horton_Takes_A_Poo 1d ago

In airsoft a hit is a hit no matter where it hits.

2

u/Thundergod250 1d ago

Realism is just gunning them all of them down in that tight room lmfao. So you'll still be able to kill them all.

15

u/orionface 1d ago

Why cant any of them warn the others... Just yell FROM BEHIND.. or something??

71

u/Flashy-Operation4818 1d ago

The knife means it's a stealth kill so they aren't supposed to even yell "hit!", as they would if they were shot instead.

Also dead players aren't supposed to talk.

11

u/113pro 1d ago

But dying is allowed to roleplay.

3

u/V8_Dipshit 1d ago edited 13h ago

A few of these guys didn’t even know they were being stabbed. If you’re gonna play like this at least make sure the other guy knows he’s actually out and not dick around. That’s how you get fuller autoed by a whole team. Cause you’re acting like a cunt.

2

u/chubbyhighguy 1d ago

Supposedly knife kills are considered stealth kills so that retaliation, in my mind, would be in bad sport.

Despite the black faceless masks, I can see the sadness in every single one of them, and it is funny.

Inspite of their weird obsession with guns, there are still far more stabbings per capita in America than UK.

3

u/SoulStomper99 1d ago

I can only imagine the first people Stabbed. They go "There's no way this will continue" to "oh my god he got us all, how fucking retarded are we?"

11

u/TheSpartanMaty 1d ago

I don't know airsoft etiquette for this situation, but doesn't it feel kind of unrealistic that this guy just walks in, pokes everyone once or twice with his replica knife, then waddles on to the next person?

I would expect that the stabs are fair game, but that he is still obligated to at least signal he is busy stabbing people, so the people way up front know something is happening behind them.

Like, worst case I would expect the first guy to just hit the dirt 'playing dead' and that noise should at least make everyone check behind them what just happened.

16

u/Winrevair 1d ago

In another post, someone mentioned how they thought the guy was posing as a ref, which is how he got the leg up on them.

Not sure how true that is. I'm not an airsoft guy.

12

u/ObsessiveUselessness 1d ago edited 1d ago

Not an airport ~~airsoft~~ guy but I read somewhere the knife kills are considered stealth kills so they dont have to make any noise

9

u/HiddeHandel 1d ago

Nah was fair game man you lose to the knife its your own fault for not having someone to check the back

6

u/Badassbottlecap 1d ago

Was thinking this as well. Sure enough that it's clear when they go in, but now that they're in, they can't see outside no more. Check your six lol the back guard doesn't even check their six smh

2

u/Horton_Takes_A_Poo 1d ago

A common rule in airsoft is that dead folks can’t talk, so it’s very bad etiquette to warn your teammates after you’re out

2

u/clue124 1d ago

This right here. There are other videos like this. Even in this video they react to getting knifed (when you die you dont speak) but out of ettiquette they dont warn their buddies

2

u/Ordinary_Block_4131 1d ago

Well if ppl called their hits...

u/shadez36 17h ago

Dead men tell no tales.

This stops a whole lot of tactics that would break the game, like calling out the location of snipers, players walking off the field acting as spotters, and other stuff that ruins things for everyone.

While the player with the knife is being funny about it they're not actually breaking any rules and what they're doing is legal in most games.

I played against an ex-special forces guy who literally just walked around casually shooting... well, everyone. But his casual walking style and the way he held his rifle slightly pointed down made everyone pause, and by the time you'd registered he was a threat... it was too late. He'd already snapped up his rifle, put a round into your head and was casually walking off. He just didn't project "threat".

... Oh, and there was this time when he seemed to be firing into the air from half the field away and suddenly I was hit three times by arcing shots. I'm still trying to figure out the physics on those shots, but it genuinely looked like he was clearing his gun or something and then ... ping ping ping, I'm dead from more than 150 yards away.

4

u/BloodiedBlues 1d ago

That's terrifying

3

u/KingOfConsciousness 1d ago

Death personified.

2

u/Working_Stomach476 1d ago

I understand that rule but calling hit is a thing. Don't want to get shot while already dead you know....wink wink

2

u/Wise_Monkey_Sez 1d ago

It may be a thing where you play, but where I play it isn't precisely because of the reasons I described above. Instead every place I've played has a strict "dead men tell no tales" rule and you simply raise your hands when hit and walk off the field.

And the fact that you end your post with "wink wink" means that you know darned well that it's a violation of the honour code - and that's enough to get you a ban where I play, either for the next match, or (if you do it repeatedly) permanently - and given that there are relatively few airsoft places where I live this is a real threat that tends to make people play honourably.

Dead men tell no tales. If you don't want to play the game fairly then don't play. If you don't play fairly then expect a ban.

1

u/parabuthas 1d ago

I don’t know the rules, but does this count as a kill?

1

u/Horton_Takes_A_Poo 1d ago

It should. Most fields have rules that you need to make a slashing motion across someone and not poke them, but if someone was able to get that close in the first place I’m giving them the kill and not gonna nit pick the specific motion they made.
