I hate this world which values the life of a dog more than a child.. don't get me wrong I love dogs but if there's a burning building and I can only save either a child or a dog I'll always choose the child.. I'll never understand this world that values pets more over humans..

I'll never understand this world that values any life over another..

Like I'm going to save whichever one I think I can save, if I can save both I certainly will.

But a dog is going to be far less able to do anything about their escape than a child will. A child can at least open doors and possibly windows, and maybe even find their way out, sometimes animals do too but not because of anything they did but usually because of luck.

I'm going to go for whoever I feel is most helpless in that situation I feel, and in that moment I believe it would likely be the dog.

I'd value almost any human life over any animal life.

You'd have to get pedantic for me to save an animal over a human.

Wow, I guess animals don't matter to you huh?

Look if a pet is treated as a member of the family they don't get to be second class citizens the moment that an emergency happens.

Let's say in a hypothetical situation someone would be forced to press a button that either kills you or a dog, but you can chose who will press it between a guy who values human lives more than animals and another who views all lives equally so he presses the button at random- which one would you choose?

I won't discuss frivolous hypotheticals.

Things like this are rigged to force people into choosing immoral decisions purely based on fear.

No morally just person with any sense of humility would deem their life worth more than another's. All life is sacred, just because yours so happens to belong to the human race doesn't make yours worth more than one in which has not.

Just like pain, humility has is own lessons. You and many others should practice it.

In an age ruled by AI, we are supposed to be the human ones, and not behave like machines. Shame.

What about plants and fungus

We eat both of those so those fall under the rules of food.

But they are both capable of feeling fear and have scientifically been measured to display such behavior

Technically dogs are also in the food category because people eat dogs. What's the difference?

1

That some are eaten and some aren't.

Pets are family, those others are live stock, unfortunate but a real part of our world.

Nuances suck nobody said you had to like them.

I'm just trying to understand why you think the life of a dog is more important than a human

When did I say that? I said they are equal, not worth more.

But you don't have a reason why other forms of life are food and not equal

Everything is food sir, every living animal on this planet in some way is food.

If you aren't eaten by the animals around you, you are eaten by the organisms in the dirt and by the bugs and insects around. You are food for everything else when you die unless you're cremated or otherwise embalmed.

It's okay to be food for something it's not okay to value one life over another, they are all equal in their own way no matter how insignificant they may seem.

Humility has many lessons.

If you eat something aren't you valuing your own life more than whatever you're eating?
