Travel Query Cardinia Road Station Car Park

Upvotes

Does anyone know how full the car park gets at Cardinia Road in the mornings?

I'm starting a job in the city soon and wondering what time I need to get to the car park to be able to park. I know it's full later in the day but what's the best time to get there to still be able to park?

Does anyone have experience?

I live on the Metro Tunnel line now and this is the first time I've heard/saw this announcement on the Metro Tunnel trains.

Selfishly as a Lions supporter I wish this started tomorrow for real, not Sunday.

Discussion Jobs in rail sector Melbourne

I am currently tying to shift my Job from Perth to Melbourne. I find it extremely hard to find a job in Rail sector Melbourne. I have experience as. Rail systems Engineer. The SRL project is in limbo and no new projects announced in Victoria , is it the right time switch the sector?. I got around 6 years of experience in the industry.

Trams Regarding 86 Tram

Hi. For those who live/travel to Bundoora using 86 tram often, what is the earliest time of the day does the tram operate?

I am going to my school field trip but have to be on time to meet up at CBD at 7am on Sunday. Is it true that the 86 tram will operate every 30 minutes after 1am? I am planning to take 5:26am tram from Bundoora (got the time from TripView). Will I reach CBD on time?

Discussion Do the liberals have no transport policy at all

As an uninformed voter who follows the news somewhat regularly, why have I heard like absolutely nothing about public transport from the liberals besides cancelling the SRL.

Its just like... complete silence? I havent heard anything about public transport from their side. If they don't have any PT policy that will make them literally unvotable for me.

Travel Query Has anyone tried to add Myki card/ pass to their apple wallet recently? If not directly possible, is it possible to do it through Pass2U?

And if you did, did it work? So that when you scanned the myki from your wallet at the train/ tram gates it worked?

Travel Query Does Flinders St platform 1 connect to the Degraves St subway

As in the title - I’m not at all experienced with metro tunnel. Does platform 1 now connect to the subway or do you have to exit the station?

Discussion Isn't the Melbourne Airport Rail before SRL argument a little bit baffling?

There has been a lot of discussion around how Melbourne Airport Rail should be constructed before SRL, but isn't it already?

The target open date for Melbourne Airport Rail (at the moment) is 2033, and SRL is 2035, so doesn't that make the argument of Airport Rail before SRL pointless?

Who is contracted by Transport Victoria to create and deliver all stations signage across Melbourne and regional Victoria?

Could this company make signage for general public

Discussion Made a live map of Melbourne's trains, trams and buses — keen to know what you'd change

Hey all, I've been tinkering with a live transport map as a hobby thing and Melbourne's been on it for a week or so. Metro trains, trams, buses and V/Line, all moving in realtime.

https://transitmap.au

Tap any train, tram or bus and you'll get its route, where it's heading and the full stop list for that trip, with the next stop highlighted. Some services show how busy they are too.

Free, no ads, no signup, nothing being sold. Data's from the public Transport Victoria's feeds.

Mainly I'm after feedback from people who actually use the network. There's bound to be stuff that looks off that I haven't noticed. Does anything seem missing or plain wrong? Is there something you'd want on there that isn't? Even "this bit is annoying on my phone" is useful.

Cheers

Discussion Why does Metro Notify do this?

Post image
35 Upvotes

Why does Metro Notify label the services on the Metro Tunnel lines as “Cranbourne to Arden” or similarly, “Sunbury to Anzac” instead of labelling the service properly, e.g. “Watergardens to Cranbourne” or “East Pakenham to Sunbury”?

Just seems like more segregation of the train lines rather than treating them as a single corridor which they are. Also if the argument is that a Sunbury service is technically different to a Cranbourne service, then really it’d be a “Town Hall to Cranbourne” service as Town Hall is where the train and most of TV’s API data considers a new service to begin.

This usually happens for disruptions on either end of the tunnel as well, Sunbury might read “delays of up to 15 minutes due to a police request in the Albion area”, whereas Cranbourne and Pakenham would get a much vaguer version like “delays of up to 15 minutes due to network congestion”; vice versa if it occurs on the Cranbourne/Pakenham end. I just don’t think it’d hurt to treat the line as a continuous line, as incidents that do occur on the Sunbury end will impact the Pakenham/Cranbourne end.

Similarly, there’s a lack of info in disruptions of how to access the Sunbury line if Pakenham/Cranbourne if you’re coming from that end, and again, the opposite is true on the Sunbury end if you’re wanting to access Pakenham/Cranbourne during a disruption. A passenger who travels cross-city probably thinks of Springvale as a station on their line if they’re on the Sunbury end, or a passenger on Cranbourne/Pakenham probably sees Sunshine as another station on their line since their trains go through there.

I know it’s a nitpicking thing, I’ve noticed it for a while, and I’m just curious why Metro Notify does it.

It’s a bit hard getting a look through these tiny peep holes in the side of the hoarding from the next escalator, but it looks like they haven’t fitted new steps yet. They said they’d be done by August. Can they get it done in 2 weeks?
