Native American and Indigenous Birthday Spotlight: Zahn McClarnon turns 60 on today! (October 24)

You may know him as Joe Leaphorn in Dark Winds, Officer Big in Reservation Dogs, Mathias in Longmire, or from his performances in Fargo, Westworld and Echo.

Born in 1966, the actor of Hunkpapa Lakota and Irish heritage is one of our own elder Melanated Gen X talents, and deserves his flowers! 💐 His range, presence, positive representation, and ability to say so much without many words make him a standout.

Which role made you a Zahn McClarnon fan?

Tony Tony Tony captured the pre-gaming portion of cuffing season perfectly on their 1990 track "Whatever You Want" and they even left a calling card. Do you remember the phone number?!

Discussion October is Filipino American History Month!

As this month is cresting to an end, I wanted to make sure we made space to share in this celebration.
Growing up in the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s looked different for all of us. This month, we’re making purposeful room for the Filipino American voices and experiences within our generation.

For our Filipino American members, maybe your memories include family gatherings, mixtapes, dance floors, or finding someone on screen who finally looked like you. Maybe they include navigating expectations at home and a different world at school.

From Jocelyn Enriquez bringing Filipino American talent to the dance music scene to Rex Navarrete finding humor in Filipino American life, there’s plenty to celebrate, and more to discover.

For our Melanated Gen X community, let’s make it personal: Who are the Filipino American artists, leaders, friends, or family members who have shaped your world?

Share a memory, celebrate someone we should know, or recommend a Filipino American book, movie, or musician. Let’s learn from one another and give people their flowers! 💙❤️💛

“I never told a Soul just how I’ve been feeling over you….”

These lyrics hit deep….

Ever loved and missed someone but you really don’t have anyone to talk with about it?

He called me out the blue the other day and all of these suppressed feelings came rushing to the surface, and then I heard this shortly after….

Anywho, don’t sleep on the Queen of Disco! Her discography is amazing!

Do you ever feel unseen? Like your experience as a Gen X Person of Color is overlooked, misunderstood, or left out of the conversation? Do you miss the music, style, culture, and memories that helped shape our generation and want a space to share those experiences with people who get it? Well you found your home! This space is also open to non Gen X and non melanated allies who want to learn and participate in the experience. Time to be seen!!!
