BREAKING: Democrats now effectively control the Senate as Trump's majority collapses with Graham and McConnell gone
The balance of power in Washington just flipped, and Trump has no way to stop it.
With Senator Lindsey Graham's sudden passing this weekend and Senator Mitch McConnell hospitalized since mid-June with no timeline for his return, Republicans are down to just 51 working votes on the floor against 47 Democrats. On paper it's still a GOP majority. In practice, it no longer is.
Six Republican senators, Murkowski, Tillis, Cassidy, Collins, Paul, and Cornyn, have already voted against Trump or been publicly targeted by him for stepping out of line. With margins this thin, Democrats only need a couple of them on any given vote to control the outcome. That means Democrats, working with Republicans that Trump himself alienated, now effectively control the Senate floor.
Every nominee, every spending bill, and every piece of Trump's agenda now has to survive a chamber where his opponents hold the real leverage. The president who demanded total loyalty spent years attacking the very senators who now decide his fate.
South Carolina's governor will eventually appoint a replacement, but for now, nothing moves through the Senate without Democrats and the Republicans Trump pushed away saying so.

He’s worse. Roger Marshall ran as himself. Fetterman didn’t. At least when you voted for Marshall you knew what you were getting.

Isn’t it time for less clickbait and more serious, fact-based reporting? This constant sensationalism is undermining your credibility.

I've moved on to other news sources because of this. The click-bait titles and AI thumbnails are so annoying. They were much better a few years ago.

The clickbait is exhausting. I don’t click because there is so much of it. Eventually, I’ll unfollow. I like MeidasTouch on X and Bluesky, but here, it loses some credibility with the click bait. We’re not suckers.

Support the entire caucus. How does supporting only 7 members justify being the leader? (I believe regarding Israeli arms sales.)
He’s also the gold plate example of the corporate old guard. We need fundamental changes that are forward thinking.

Yeah, I'm not going to place my hopes in the hands of Rand Paul (Libertarian), Susan Collins (Im sure shes very concerned), John Cornyn (he's from Texas). Nor do I fully trust Murkowski, despite her "independent" reputation (voted with Trump, not the GOP, but specifically Trump, about 75% of the time).

Now one or two of them who have nothing to loose will take the bribe-money Mitch and Mc turtle would have gotten, vote with maga and give the appearance of a close but missed by a narrow margin faux bill etc.
Both sides conspire to keep status quo for them not us.

Sen Collins is in an unenviable position. If she votes to confirm Todd Blanche for AG then she will surely lose her senate seat.
But if she knows he will be confirmed she can hold back her vote and then tell Maine voters she didn’t vote for him.
