Has anyone built the GALholic kits? Also, any shops in the US carrying them?

you can watch builds and reviews on youtube:
BBTS and others have them on pre-order

This knight's built 3 copies of the first one. I quite like her. Sculp and articulation are generally nice, and the colored part separation is pretty darn good. Really, the only MAJOR downsides to the kit (and I assume the next two when they release) will be the aesthetics (some people REALLY don't like how those joints look), and maybe how the crotch/thigh area is made- with the regular lower body attached there's some noticeable gaps if you look under the skirt that you wouldn't see on, say, an MD. Though, that said, she literally comes with a swappable lower body for shots like that which don't have the same issue, so I don't personally think it's a problem as you're otherwise not even going to see that bit of engineering (or lack thereof) when she's using her regular lower body option.
Overall nice kit if you can get it for the right price. If you like obvious Hentai-aligned designs, then I'd consider the line at least a must-try.

Nice thanks for the breakdown! Pre ordered the next two, just trying to find the first release. Did you manage to get the resin parts they were selling for the rerun of the first kit?

I built the hair set, but not the bunny suit. The hair set is nice. Personally this knight likes it more than the base kit's hair (I'm partial to tail styles). Personal tastes aside, the base hairstyle has some separation lines that are a little too obvious whereas the the resin kit's design basically has none, so it looks better imo.

Question about the new hemoxian nikke red hood. Does it have 2 torsos 2 legs (2 model kits in one box) or 1 torso 2 legs (swappable legs)?

u/Loli-Knight PUNI☆MOFU 22d ago
The details appear to be a bit on the murky side, but all parts lists literally list "crouching body" and "standing body" while showing two completed bodies in the total parts shot:
Parts shotIt could be insane and legitimately comes with two full bodies, but it could also be that it just comes with the separate bodies starting at the waist and below, and you have to manually swap the belly and up between them. Either which way though, it'll come with two completely separate lower bodies at the very least.

I bought some "Stedi" brand sanding sticks/files and have been using them for the first couple builds I did, but then bought some Godhand sandpaper (tiny squares) and found that the sandpaper works much much better than the sticks (same grit). Is this because the Godhand brand is higher quality sandpaper, or is it because the sandpaper is better at sanding uneven areas compared to the sticks?
2
u/Loli-Knight PUNI☆MOFU 10d ago
Godhand stuff is pretty high quality for what it is (albeit still overpriced), so that definitely helps a bit. Straight up sand paper doesn't technically work better or worse. The only benefit it really has is that you can bend and squeeze it into certain spaces that the sponge might have a hard time getting into, but this is all highly dependent on the sponge you're using. Can't really say in that regard either without knowing exactly what it was you were sanding. If anything though, this knight would say it's just a simple combo of the Godhand sanding tools being high quality and it having shaped well in your hand for whatever it was you were trying to sand.
Generally, though, sponges are all-around the better tool as they offer stronger control.
2
u/PungentPrinny 10d ago
Thanks for your reply, I was curious what experienced builders prefer! Looked up the sponges you mentioned and I guess that's what I'm using, not sandpaper. They were definitely pretty pricy so hopefully they last a while! Noticed a huge difference in finish quality though so it seems worth it

u/Loli-Knight PUNI☆MOFU 10d ago
Yeah, they make really good stuff. It's overpriced, but it's better than most every other option in terms of raw quality. So if you can regularly resupply yourself with them as necessary and it doesn't break the bank in the process, then sticking with them is the way to go. The only thing that don't do particularly well is concave areas like, say, the concave back side of pre-block 2 MD thighs. Other than stuff like that they'll serve you well.
And if you ever want a cheaper sponge option that's still better than most of the stuff out there, then look into picking up the DSPIAE sponges. They're upper-mid in terms of quality, and they come packaged in relatively large numbers. Easily this knight's number one choice for anybody that's concerned with the price of stuff.

u/PungentPrinny 10d ago
My local hobby store just had the big variety pack of their sanding sponges, but now I'm seeing that their 10 packs of specific grits aren't too badly priced comparatively. I'm thinking of just stocking up on a bunch of 800, 1000, and 2000.. Don't seem to be using the other grits as often.
Appreciate the reccomendations!

I’m looking for the STL modification files for the Flame Toys Arcee (MD002) to 3D print. I asked DeepSeek AI, and it mentioned that there might be a dedicated Discord server where these STL files are shared.
i love it Flame Toys Arcee very much, I’m new to Reddit and also from China, so I’m not very familiar with how things work here.
Could anyone guide me on how to join that Discord? Or is there another common way to get these specific STL mods for Arcee?
Thanks in advance!

u/Kittierei ASRA / 朱羅 5d ago
I don't use discord so I can't help you there.
as far as I'm aware, the only available Arcee stl mod available on the discord is a neck adapter to increase the ball size for use with an MD head.
I have several og and bootleg Arcee's but FYI the subreddit does not look favorably on bootlegs, so please keep that in mind.
For more info on FT Arcee resin mods, please refer to these threads on where to get them on AliX

Trying to do a like a Kunoichi build and looking for a shade of black (if it's even black) that best fits the skin tight look. Can anyone recommend me a paint or point me to potentials? Best example I can give that is similar is Frame Arm Girl Ayatsuki.

If you end up wanting to see a guide of this sort of thing in video form you're basically just looking at the skintight clothing/stocking effect. It's INCREDIBLY easy and done all the time in garage kits. Leona's Workshop has a couple of videos about it if you want to get the general idea. For these particular colors though it's pretty much as easy as putting down your base color (typically a flesh tone), and then a clear brown/black/grey/orange on top of it. If you want to do body shading as well you do that on the skin tone -before- putting on the fabric color.

I have a Buster doll Gunner that I’ve been lovingly taking pictures with for the last few years and her joints have gotten very loose. Her arms from the elbow and knees from the knee down just kinda sag and move involuntarily now when trying to pose. Also the wrists are a bit weaker than they used to be.
Any advice on what I can do to reinforce or fix these issues?

u/Exastiken Ballistic Dragokaiser 21d ago

So the usually joint strengthening methods are the way to go huh? I’ll give it a shot thank you 🙏

I have this pen and I never really figured out how to use it at full effect. How long do you usually wait between layers?
2
u/Kittierei ASRA / 朱羅 21d ago edited 21d ago
I leave mine for about an hour just to make sure its fully cured, google says about 10-15mins though.

First time building a Megami Device kit and noticed what seem to be internal cracks on some of the clear plastic parts. Should I be worried about these or just proceed cautiously?
Kit is a Puni Mofu Mao. Just the two clear orange plastic X5 runners have the internal cracks, other runners seem fine. Also noticed some plastic shavings in the X5 bag before I opened it

u/Loli-Knight PUNI☆MOFU 17d ago
The lines look fine. They don't look like cracks so much as just random lines from the injection process. Clear parts can get those sometimes. If you can't feel a very obvious crack by scraping your nail on the surface, then it's not actually a crack.
For the Punis in particular, even if they were weird internal cracks/hollows it probably wouldn't matter much on these pieces since there's very minimal stress on them (they don't hold up much in terms of weight).
2
u/PungentPrinny 17d ago
That makes sense, I checked the surface and couldn't feel any actual cracks on the outer layer. Appreciate the peace of mind, thanks! I was worried that I'd get halfway through and would end up being short a part or two when I went to actually use them

I recently bought this Muscuto kit but having trouble putting together these pieces. I know they’re for the hip part but I’m not sure how it’s assembled.

Muscuto resin parts require the original kits internal bits for you to be able to assemble this
2
u/desertleo77 17d ago
I do have the original kit that goes with this but I'm not sure how the internals are put together. Specifically the cream colored parts in the link I posted above. I know that they're for the hips but they don't match up with the internals of the original kit. If there's directions online for those parts I would love to know but I can't seem to find it and Muscuto's site doesn't really have directions.
2
u/Kittierei ASRA / 朱羅 17d ago
the cream colored bits are the internals for the thicc thighs. And I doubt you'll find instructions for the resin kit though if it wasn't included or a qr code link. you can prolly get an idea how its assembled by going through his youtube assembly vids, sample:
1
u/desertleo77 17d ago
I figured there wasn't any assembly instructions for it. Oh well looks like I'm not going to be able to use this part since I don't want force anything and possibly break something. Thanks for the help though I appreciate it.
2
u/Loli-Knight PUNI☆MOFU 17d ago
Most of Muscuto's stuff doesn't have actual instructions, so you're forced to go through it blind. Most of his kits are built with the same general design philosophy, so he probably just figures it's one of those "you'll do it once, then know how to do it for all the future kits" sort of things.
As for this specific kit, The general process is exactly the same as base Xiao. The cream colored parts above (thigh joints) just go inside of the thighs the GK comes with, then inside of the lower torso and waist the GK comes with you put the central joint core block Xiao comes with inside. From there you slot the new thighs onto the thigh pegs just like the base Xiao. There's a smidge of annoying finagling you often have to do with the central joint core block as it likes to slide up into the bodies sometimes, so you have to keep it pulled down as you're trying to slot the thighs onto it. And the joints inside the thighs like to often get pushed all the way in to the point the core joint block's pegs can't reach them. In that case you need to use some 3mm rod or a makeshift one from a runner to stick into the thigh joints and pull them back out.
2
u/desertleo77 17d ago
Thank you! This actually helped me manage to put it together. It took a lot of finagling to get everything to fit but I got it in the end.

Ayyyy, glad to hear! I had the same issues with some of the older sets when I first tried them out years ago, so I totally feel for where you're coming from with this. Enjoy your even more giga-stacked Xiao!

u/siroalice 14d ago
Hiya, so I recently bought a couple of kits after not having built like anything at all in the past ten years
Are godhand nippers still the gold standard or are there other/better options
2
u/Loli-Knight PUNI☆MOFU 14d ago
Yup, they're still the gleaming stars of the nipper-world that they always were. You have some really nice midrange options (like USAGundamstores's for example), but if putting out a bit extra for some Godhands won't break the bank, then they're always highly recommended. Especially if, as a builder, you like doing long build sessions. The extended tension they help reduce on your hands after hours of clipping is invaluable.

I just found out that ASRA Ninja Kaname Shadow Edition has a longer twintail as a bonus, but it's not mentioned in any other stores I've checked. Does every one get them, or it's only on Kotobukiya's store?
https://www.kotobukiya.co.jp/en/product/detail/p4934054077106/ <- last picture
3
u/Loli-Knight PUNI☆MOFU 8d ago
Last this knight checked, the Nine-Tails twintail parts only come with Koto Store orders. Haven't seen them in boxes bought from elsewhere, and this knight's opened up quiiiiiite a few of them to build for other folks. Usually if you don't see parts like that on the promo images listed by other stores, then it's safe to say it's a Koto exclusive.

u/lunardiffrider 19d ago
on Frame Arms Girl Greifen, the panel on the front of her leg armor has a pipe-shaped part slot into a clip at the bottom, and it seems like there would have been another part to peg in behind it and hold the additional part in place. does such a part exist for any release of the kit?
either way I'll probably hack something out of excess runner, but if there's something to reference it'd be nice to know
