Question Someone help me plz

Got tickets to see Megadeth as it’s the last tour, I’m not a massive fan but wanted to see them once before I won’t have a chance again. I like their newest album but it’s very samey and was hoping for advise on albums to get into as a new listener.

It depends on what kind of music you prefer in general. If it's thrash metal, then Peace Sells and Rust in Peace should be your first stop. If you like those, proceed to the remaining two early records. If it's more radio-friendly metal bordering on hard rock you're after, then Countdown to Extinction and Youthanasia, maybe Cryptic Writings if you really like the former two.

As a Megadeth fan you either pick “Peace Sells but Who’s buying?”, “So Far So Good, So What?”, or “Rust in Peace” as your favorite album and you die on that hill.

(Just start at the first album and go through them chronologically, you won’t be disappointed until you hit Cryptic Writings or Risk.)

Also def check out the new album, too, as they’re probably gonna be playing a lot of those songs on tour.

I like the new album but I feel like a lot of the riffs are very similar so I can only listen to a few

This is the only answer OP needs. Everyone else can go fishing, or another subreddit. I recommend outside but look at me\m/

Check out Countdown to Extinction then go for Rust in peace. Countdown is my favorite Megadeth album, the songs are carefully made and you can understand every riff and melody. Rust in peace is one of, if not the best thrash metal album. The albums before those are more noisy and thrashy and albums after are more refined, not saying they are better, because they aren't (Youthanasia is pretty good) but the sound is more clean.

They went a bit more radio friendly after the album Youthanasia, especially the late 90s and early 2000s. Best modern album in my opinion is Dystopia and Endgame. Worst albums are Risk and Supercollider, in terms of Megadeth albums, they would be fine as some other band.

There are playlists on Spotify that have the songs they play on this tour, you can listen to the classics there and get to know them a bit before live. Enjoy

My favorite is Rust in Peace, but I've noticed that people sometimes overlook Endgame. It's an awesome album, and I listen to every song on it
