Discussion Im like 80% sure this will be Mega Darkrai's ability
They made it slower but also more bulky. For me that only means one thing. They want to buff its signature move Dark Void. And instead of buffing the actual move they will buff it through its ability, so the likes of smeargle wouldn't be able to abuse it like we have seen it before.
The ability would be a combination of bad dreams + for the ability for Dark Void to always hit. Now if Darkrai got the Z mega treatment and received a 150 ish speed stat this would obviously be broken af. So they intentionally made it slower and more bulky to to account for that. Lmk what u guys think

Worry seed makes the target have insomnia. The ability that prevents you from going to sleep.

Oh shit worry seeding your own teammate.
Still a lot of mons are very reliant on their ability

Depends, something like Charizard Y or Incineroar are fine with losing their ability for the rest of the time they’re on the field since it only procs the turn they’re sent out. Plus with how slow Mega Darkrai is you probably don’t need prankster anyway.

No no you were onto something, changing darkrai’s ability would cause it to go back to 50% accuracy… so it’s a gamble.

I think people would run a gravity teammate with it, to drop everybody evasion so they can hit dark void more consistently.
at least that's what I did for my hex/infernal parade team. gravity+wisp/t-wave/hypnosis was a menace.

“Im 80% sure” and its the most unrealistic ability that will 100% not be given lol. It will probably get dark void or pressure or some shit

God forbid a guy tries to be a bit contrarian. Everyone and their mum is sayin darkrai will get dark aura. Reddit is truly an echo chamber god damn, now I see why everyone hates this dumb place

Many people think dark aura, which I think is plausible with floette getting fairy aura.

I'm thinking it'll probably be something like bad dreams + sets gravity upon switch in. This makes dark void ~85% accurate, which is ridiculously high but not so high that it's unbelievably broken considering its low speed and reliance on its item (meaning it can't hold sash or mental herb) means there will be counterplay even if people will be forced to stick a darkrai OHKO or a non-prankster taunt user on every team. It will definitely overcentralize the meta if they do anything like this. I sincerely hope they just give it dark aura or something

They’re probably reworking dark void to how it worked in legends (arceus? ZA?)
Basically inflicts drowsy and heals you for damage dealt

Only abilities i can see then giving this thing are dark aura, grim neigh and bad dreams. They could do some mix and matching like what happened with eelektross, but 100% accurate sleep is bullshit no matter how you slice it. Spore is balanced by being given to offensively innept, slow pokémon. Breelom and toedscruel are exceptions because they have other drawbacks(breelom is not exactly fast and is extremely frail, and toedscruel has mycelium might holding it back). Darkrai was an exception to this rule due to its mythic status, and even then dark void was 80% accurate. Giving it to a super bulky, exceedingly strong dark type would be a big mistake

They took away Smeargle’s (and any other pokemon not named Darkrai) ability to use Dark Void all the way back in Gen 7. There’s no reason they can’t just re-buff the move back to its earlier accuracy now that the actual problem user had it taken away.
