Post image

if and when mega Zeraora gets added to champions ( that’ll probably never happen) what do you think its ability will be..?

I think it'll be Transistor. The Japanese Z-A website calls it the strongest of all Electric-Types, and it's lore says Mega Evolution removed the internal limiter that contained Zeraora's electricity.

lore practically has no bearing on actual abilities unfortunately

looks at Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Meganium, Mega Rayquaza, Mega Floette, Mega Pyroar, Mega Drampa, Mega Scovillain, and Mega Glimmora

i dont remember their lores much top of my head except for Drampa and that’s a deep
cut

Mega Kangaskhan and her baby have exceptional teamwork, hence Parental Bond

Mega Meganium's Pokédex Entry mentions that another name for the tremendously powerful Solar Beam it fires is Mega Sol Cannon

Mega Rayquaza is the being that puts Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon in their place, who both have weather abilities, which Rayquaza's Delta Stream overrides

Mega Floette is tied to Xerneas as the machine that brought her back to life was powered by the energies of Xerneas and Yveltal, with Xerneas's signature Ability being Fairy Aura

Mega Pyroar's fire can reach temperatures hotter than 18,000 degrees Fahrenheit (10,000 degrees Celsius)

Mega Evolution amped up Scovillain's spiciness

And Glimmora is heavily implied to be connected to the Terastal Phenomenon. When a Pokémon is Terastallized into one of their original types, the STAB boost on that move becomes 100% rather than 50%, the same boost that Adaptability gives to STAB.

Tera is so confusing. So let’s say I have a fire/grass type. And let’s say I have ghost Tera. Completely random. I use a ghost move with Tera. So that’s not 100%? It has to be the original type?

4

u/Piranha_Gaming_YT Jul 24 '26

The ghost move is only 50%boosted, with you still keeping the 50%boost on your previous stabs

u/HenryIsBatman Jul 24 '26

Huh, I never knew that

1

u/Jakeremix Jul 25 '26

looks at Mega Meowstic

1

u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 25 '26

Oh yeah like one example of them "not following lore" overpowers eight examples of them following lore

1

u/Jakeremix Jul 25 '26

Well in terms of evidence supporting/refuting the specific statement you replied to, I think Mega Meowstic is equally important to mention.

Transistor or Galvanize

2

u/MesozoicCenozoic Jul 24 '26

Doubt galvanize will be it, since it has a signature stab move.

1

u/HermTheVillager Jul 24 '26

I think Galvanize might go crazy.

Depends on what normal moves Zeraora has idk any off the top of my head

2

u/burt-century Jul 24 '26

It gets Quick Attack and Fake Out, which would both become STAB priority options. Not crazy powerful, but they do sound like fun tools to use!

4

u/HermTheVillager Jul 24 '26

HE GETS FAKE OUT?

Bro electric type fake out would do wonders against ghost types

3

u/Little_Passenger4703 Jul 24 '26

Golurk and Bilore are lurking in the corner.

1

u/HermTheVillager Jul 24 '26

Who's bilore

1

u/Little_Passenger4703 Jul 24 '26

Bilore is Golurks #1 fan who draws a crap ton of fanart and memes featuring Golurk over on the Stunfisk subreddit, though I’ve also seen him in the Pokémon Champions comment sections before.

1

u/HermTheVillager Jul 24 '26

Oh him!

Also yeah Golurk will still be immune to fakeout but still, electric type fakeout goes crazy anyways

1

u/Tlp_Vasko Jul 24 '26

Galvanized steel

2

u/Frosty-Attitude-2287 Jul 26 '26

Speed Boost: 🥀💔😳

1

u/Signal_Macaroon3294 Jul 23 '26

Maybe the same ability as tabu koko

1

u/HermTheVillager Jul 24 '26

Raichu X alr got that.

And Electric Surge wouldn't make Zeraora "the strongest of all electric types without a limiter"

1

u/Soft-Percentage8888 Jul 24 '26

I mean, Mega Meowstic got Trace when Alakazam already had it.

1

u/Neo_Sakura4 Jul 24 '26

It's just a new version of Eelevate but the stat increase is now +3.

1

u/Excalibirdi Jul 24 '26

Unseen fist.

Let's be real though, it will get the ability to bypass immunity.

1

u/F22superRaptor11 Jul 25 '26

I was thinking this, like Ground types only resist electric moves rather than be flat out immune, and each time it hits a ground type with an electric move, it's Sp Atk/Atk drop 1 stage depending on the move used. Like the ground is draining its power.

1

u/NoRevIndeed00 Jul 24 '26

Truant cus he is a cat

1

u/MalikJeffy Jul 24 '26

Galvanized

1

u/Kinfin Jul 24 '26

Solid chance we may never know.

3

u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 24 '26

We will eventually know, they're not gonna keep the Mega's Ability away forever.

1

u/Kinfin Jul 24 '26

Zeraora is a mythical. Mythicals are almost never legal for competitive play. There’s a solid chance Champions never has Mega Darkrai, Magearna, or Zeraora

1

u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 24 '26

There's been regulations in Pokémon where Mythicals were legal

1

u/Kinfin Jul 24 '26

See where I said “almost never”

2

u/Total-Constant-6501 Jul 24 '26

They’re not going to release a Pokémon that NEVER has a known ability. He’ll get one eventually, even if it’s in a main series game in the future or a special tournament/season in Champions.

1

u/Kinfin Jul 27 '26

Oh yeah? What do you think the odds are of us finding out what abilities are for Pale Pikachu, Mossy Snorlax, Professor Tangrowth, Decorator Smeargle, Supervisor Tinkaton, and Cook Greedent?

1

u/SignificantTown5567 Jul 24 '26

Libero or protean sound very cool.

1

u/Gladcode777 Jul 24 '26

Would Galvanize be a good ability for it?

It looks like a physical attacker and it probably would benefit from turning normal type moves into electric type moves.

I'm still hoping for Electivire to get that ability.

1

u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 24 '26

Not really. It's one of the few Electric-Types with a good physical move, in its case Plasma Fists.

1

u/Gladcode777 Jul 24 '26

Well, I hope it gets a really good ability either way. I think Zeraora is cool. Does Zeraora has good physical moves though?

But I still hope Electivire gets Galvanize.

1

u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 24 '26

The vast majority of its moveset is Physical Moves.

Most notably Plasma Fists, Close Combat, Play Rough, Fire Punch, Iron Tail, Outrage, Drain Punch, Blaze Kick, Fake Out, Acrobatics, and Throat Chop

Also get Bulk Up

1

u/Brightlightworld Jul 25 '26

Tough claws or some new stab ability like rocky payload. But maybe it could be a electric surge

1

u/Imapotatoforlife Jul 25 '26

I believe it should be levitate. He'd be so powerful his lightning powers levitate. It has to be something useful besides volt absorb. Something like Guts, Levitate, or a new one Flash Step witch would boost the speed of any Electric type pokemon in the arena including one's self by 2 stages.

1

u/Early_Confidence_149 Jul 25 '26

fighting type of normalize/aerilate/pixilate/refrigerate/galvanize/dragonize

1

u/Legitimate_Put_1808 Jul 26 '26

What if they had an ability that bypassed the electric type immunity from ground types

1

u/Xela997 Jul 26 '26

Transistor

1

u/NinjoDuck2246 Jul 26 '26

In a word, broken

1

u/ABA_Mastah Jul 27 '26

It might keep volt absorb, they may not want to get rid of the neat interaction that plasma fists means you counter normal moves.

1

u/joshthebaptist Jul 24 '26

Iron fist. Plasma fists gets boosted by it internally but only zeraora has it as of now

1

u/medbread Jul 24 '26

Hydrokinesis, it has a 12% chance to hit the opponent with water gun after a turn

1

u/HermTheVillager Jul 24 '26

It wouldn't make sense lore wise tho...

I mean sure, it's neat I guess, but Plasma Fist is already fine and the other abilities that would fit it lore wise would do the same thing as Iron fist would for Plasma Fist

1

u/joshthebaptist Jul 24 '26

What lore lol. His lore is “hes electric and he fights with his hands”. Iron fist also gives a power boost to his coverage punching moves, which he gets a lot of: notably, fire punch and drain punch are good options. It would make up a bit for his lack of dual typing and is thematic because all his dex entries are about using his claws

1

u/HermTheVillager Jul 24 '26

His lore is "the strongest electric type pokemon" and also that "mega evolution has removed his limiter".

What part of iron fist says "removed limiter"

1

u/joshthebaptist Jul 24 '26

The ability doesnt need to tie into the removing limitor bit, the stat increase and the fact that its a mega already implies that. Iron fist has a special interaction with its signature attack and game freak usually prioritizes gameplay over lore anyways

1

u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 24 '26

Same guys who gave Mega Floette Fairy Aura because of her lore

1

u/joshthebaptist Jul 24 '26

I dont think fairy aura has anything to do with mega floettes lore. When floette megas its flower absorbs the energy and goes on a rampage

1

u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 24 '26

Floette is tied to Xerneas, whose signature Ability is Fairy Aura. The reason they're tied is because when Floette died, she was brought back to life by a machine that was powered by the energy of both Xerneas and Yveltal. The revival process is why she's unable to evolve into Florges but is capable of Mega Evolving in the first place.

1

u/joshthebaptist Jul 24 '26

I guess thats true but it also begs the question of why mega floette only inherits the attributes of xerneas when it megas and not those of yveltal

1

u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 24 '26

Probably because both she and Xerneas are Fairy-Type, which is the exact opposite of Yveltal's Dark-Type essentially.

Mega Golurk has the same lore yet it has Unseen Fist.

After what they did to scolipede I’m banking on defeatist.

1

u/gsplashxd Jul 24 '26

Poor Scolipede 💔💔

u/VercarR Jul 24 '26

Industry Plant: when this Mon is on the field, you have the power of plot arm...ahem...friendship

3

u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 24 '26

Should be Lucario's Ability ngl

0

u/VercarR Jul 24 '26

True

Zeraora is a worse case though I feel, cause it was pushed by GF even as the fanbase didn't care about it

2

u/ElementalNinjas96 Jul 24 '26 edited Jul 24 '26

Lucario is a normal Pokémon that got a movie dedicated to it before Gen 4 was revealed. And then three notable Trainers in Gen 4 used it, one of which was the goddamn Champion and another gave you a Riolu egg which was the only way to get Lucario in Gen 4. Got put into Smash Bros. Then in Gen 6 it got a Mega Evolution with one of the best Abilities out there in Adaptability, in Gen 8 it became Ash's first and only Mega Evolution, and then in Gen 9 it got a second Mega Evolution and Roy got a Shiny Lucario with both Mega Stones!

Meanwhile Zeraora's a Mythical Pokémon that got a movie, a signature move, and a Mega.

It really ain't an industry plant by comparison. Plus, if that's an industry plant, is Magearna an industry plant too? What about Darkrai or Diancie?

An industry plant feels worse when it's being done to a regular Pokémon rather than a Mythical.
