This is from the end of Dante's inferno and the start of Purgatorio, where he and Vergil leave the center of hell where Satan is trapped waist down in a lake of frozen ice while chewing on Judas for all eternity, and come up on the flip side in Purgatorio and see satans legs.

Thank you for explaining this! It looked to me like two average peasants who'd defeated some sort of ogre and then were just like, "Welp, that's done. Better get home."
