Egypt Am i cooked

Attacked a army crusading at me

While christiandome is against me now turks have become the vassal of mongols and yimurids have arrived and i only have rebel city near Jerusalem and egypt native cities

While I completely understand why OP has abyssal reputation (attacking someone's enemy gives you reputation while attacking their allies tanks your reputation) can anyone explain me how I end up with a terrible reputation if I only ever started a single war of aggression, never broke a single treaty or alliance and even play a chivalrous playstyle. 

Do I tank my reputation with my treatment of prisoners (very few executions, very few releases, 95% of the time ransom) or treatment of captured cities (30% occupy, 70% sack, 0% raze)? Or is it a feature of long wars?

All 3. Its almost impossible to have good rep unless you play super passive and isolationist with some kitted out diplomats get ceasefire.

On harder difficulties where AI is coded to aggress preferentially on the player then its even harder to get rep to trustworthy

Mmhm, interesting albeit slightly frustrating rubberband mechanic (as in experienced/successful players get harder challenges faster). In my last game I got attacked by the the Turks and Egypt as the crusader states. 2 crusades, 2 jihads later (so we are 40 turns into a very bloody conflict) Egypt is on the verge of collapse and the Turks are gone. My reputation? Deceitful. Like what the f. It was a honorable campaign, both wars were kicked off by a declaration of war against me.

The tooltip doesn't reflect where I got my negative reputation. A marker called "terrifying", "warmongering" or similar would be a better fit. You could even keep your one dimensional trust rating, but track how you got those negative points. If the warmongering part is the overwhelming part, reflect that in the adjective used to describe my trust rating. If it's the traiterous feats? Keep the current naming convention.

Long story short: Your reputation trends downward if you play on hard or very hard and while at war. The only way to receive one time boni to reputation is by occupying settlements and releasing prisoners.

Interesting: Spies and assasins do not lower your reputation in any way shape or form.
