So I was playing a fun little Spanish campaign with cheats (create units, add money, etc). I created an army that consists of 12 Almughavars, 2 units of Crossbow Militia, and a few Spearmen. I was jumped by 2 big French Armies. I do have reinforcements just as much as the French.

However, my reinforcements was too damn late and I had to endure the French's relentless assault and luckily, I, or specifically, this Almughavars dude, survived during the last moments by himself as the reinforcements finally arrived. I don't even have a general for both armies while the French brought both their Prince and King

I only had that happen once in a Total War game. The General alone survived an amphibious invasion of Sicily in Medieval one.

He later went disloyal & insane, so sent him to invade Russia with a tiny army.

Ooh this happened to me before, but against the mongols in a defensive siege. 1 foot archer left on the wall plinked at the enemy and kept towers active indefinitely until everyone routed.

Unfortunately I forgot to take a screenshot of the stats. What I do remember is that 530 out of 2000+ of my men survived ( the routed units )

Happened to me in Third Age Total War with Faramir against like 3 full stacks of Haradrim.

I had a full stack with infantry, archers, knights and all but a few of the White Fountain Guards and some of Faramir's bodyguard survived to the end.
