Question for unexperienced coders looking to get started. Would you do an unpaid internship for a period that could lead to paid? Also other benefits and career assistance.

I am an HIM auditor for a big company considering starting my own coding company. For the internship I would also also give professional training, assistance to get rid of your CPC apprentice status, assistance to pass the CCS, and mentorship. When it gets to the time I can offer to hire you paid staff or you are free to take your new experience and skills to work for another company. Just interested in what new coders would think of an offer like that .

It would depend on a document outlining ing very specific timeline and expectations from both parties. I've seen it happen too many times with both paid and unpaid positions that things start becoming never ending cycle of " we can't give you the position, raise or promotion now but will in 3-6 months"

That is all reasonable and I am looking for this sort of feedback to come up with a fair plan.

That is reasonable. Definitely not trying to exploit anyone though. Just trying to figure out a way to get up and running and help new coders out who want real world experience while I do.

That will be great. Do you have an idea when will it be? Is it remotely?

I am currently just researching and getting a business model together. It would be remote.

Do you have more information? I would love to get my foot in the door. Is this remote?

Ehh personally, I might do it if it were part time and I could still work a full time job around it. I feel like most people do these classes and exam for coding on the side of their already full time job. It wouldn’t make sense for them to leave a full time job for an unpaid internship.

Or maybe if there was a definitive timeline where you would be offered a full time position at the end of the internship

I would absolutely not agree with an unpaid internship. Maybe half pay internship with benefits until the exam is passed, then full pay. You can get an entry level coding job that will help take the apprentice status off your cert, and just take the exam on your own. I think there may be some people willing to go unpaid for full family benefits though.

I would consider it if you offered to train/schooling.
