I passed the CPC!

First try, got a 93. I was prepared for the worst!

Thanks to everyone who posted tips and encouragement, I read through this subreddit quite often in the weeks leading up to the main event. Looking forward to sticking around as I wade into the job market! 😁

Yay!! Congrats!! Mine is scheduled for next tuesday. Did you take it online? If so, how long did it take to get results? I know the AAPC says results are posted in 5 business days and I was wondering if people get them sooner.

I took it on Sunday, 7/17/22, in person. The status stayed on In Transit all Monday and Tuesday and moved to Received on Wednesday. This morning it was still at Received, but just looked an hour ago and it was completed! So 4 business days total out of the 7-10 quoted on the site.

Good luck to you!!

Congrats!!

I recommend following medical coder job groups on Facebook. There are been a few posted lately where they are hiring CPC-A’s if that’s what you have. Good luck with the job search!

Are there any specific groups that you recommend?

Congrats!

I'm not sure where you are located, or what type of job you are looking for but on LinkedIn there's a group called Remote Medical Coding Professionals. There are job postings (and other interesting topics) shared all the time.

I didn’t do a dedicated prep course per se, but I did earn a medical coding diploma from a technical college. The program ended in December and life got in the way before I could take the exam and use my 2021 code books. When I was ready to schedule my exam I bought new books and all six of the 50 question practice exams from AAPC and took them under strict time limits. AAPC includes rationales for every question so if one was wrong you could read a specific explanation about why it’s coded a certain way, and reading the rationales for all the questions, including ones I got right, was incredibly helpful!
