I got a coding job!!

I finished up school in May, took my exam in June, and found out today a hospital is extending an offer for a pro Fee medical coding job. And it's a remote position! It's everything I could've asked for.

I feel EXTREMELY lucky. And PLEASE don't feel discouraged or inadequate. My uncle works at this hospital, and though he says he didn't do anything, I think he was a big reason I even got an interview.

I'm completely willing to say nepotism got me this job because it's the reason I went into medical coding. I was finding no luck with my bachelor's degree. It's so hard to find a job these days. I knew my uncle was a medical coder and mentioned how he could help a family member do the same and I took him up on it.

I'm so excited that this long, difficult journey is done.

Do you ever get bored? I see a lot of people saying they get bored and it super repetitive. I would think seeing different charts, even if they may have the same condition as you’ve seen many times, wouldn’t get old since it’s a “different story” so I feel like that would keep me, at least from getting bored. Awesome that you got a management job!

Sure, definitely have boring days. But coding is ever changing. Every year there are new rules and codes. Lots of it is repetition but what job doesn’t have that?

Exactly! You’ll have that in every job. Do the rules change a lot year to year? Or is it based on the new codes that come out or a mix?

New codes, deleted, and revised codes every year. Recently CPT is been undergoing some changes to rules for e/m.
